I don't know if this helps, but I'll tell you how I found my settings. First I tried the normal Rogers settings, but no proxy. I was able to connect to the network and browse only Rogers web pages. I tried links to google and other sites with no luck. My Treo (Blazer web browser) would only show "receiving" at the top of the screen and would not load any other site. I fiddled around with the web browser's menus and found through the "prefs" and then "advanced" settings, a field where I could put the proxy address. I also changed my "Network Connection Settings" to the settings I posted above. The key, I think, was the proxy. However, I think your phone has to show some sort of successful connection to the service provider first. Then, a proper proxy will allow your to pass through Rogers and on to the rest of the internet. I'm no expert by any means, I'm just a fiddler.
Here's a question. Could the type of network that Petro-Can provides be of older technology requiring older connection software on your mobile? Example - WAP vs GPRS vs EDGE vs 3G. I suspect since the cost is so low for our service, it's older technology therefore requiring older connection types.

cxdrive, can you please confirm if you got your unlimited data completely working with your iphone 3g?![]()
This might sound like a silly question, but I'll ask it anyways.
Knowing these settings, do you still have to call and sign up (and pay) or do you get the internet with ust these settings?
Can't get mine to work yet but haven't phoned either....yet
Thanks

That's not a stupid question, b/c they have advertised a $0.04 per Kb option for those that don't sign up for the unlimited package. However, when I called, the CSR said that they no longer have that option, and to even get access to the internet on your phone, you need to get the unlimited package.Originally Posted by dbusguy
So yes, you need to call and pay for the unlimited package to get internet access to work on your phone.
Thanks for the info.
That causes me a problem then. When I signed up, I was going to use my unlocked Palm Treo680. I bought the Nokia 1208 as it was the cheapest and all I wanted was the SIM.
On their site they stateI'll have to call them but I'm thinking they'll say it can't be done. This offer is available on Nokia 2630, Nokia 2680, Nokia 2760 and Nokia 3555 phones.
I called and they did whatever they have to do and it's working on my Palm Treo 680
8/mth and going up to 10/mth in January she said.
yeah, I heard people can get it working for Palms pretty easy. So grats on getting it working.
It's just us with the darn iPhones who are having a hell of a time getting it to work.![]()
Hey, guys! I picked up a used Rogers HTC Touch Diamond yesterday. Popped my Petro-Can SIMM out of my Treo 650 (internet working no problem), put it in the Touch after a hard reset to make sure all the Rogers settings were in order, and voila! No changes made to any settings, it hooked up with Rogers 3G network no problem. So, now we know that any Rogers locked Windows Mobile Phone or Palm OS phone will work.
To answer an earlier question, I haven't tried it on the Iphone yet, so I'm not sure how to set that up. Sorry.

btw, congrats to dbusguy! Finally some reasonable pricing for unlimited mobile web! I have another Touch Diamond on Telus. I've got a $15/mo. unlimited data plan with them, which was a half price promo with the purchase of the phone at the time. Even at $10/mo. regular price, Petro Can. will still be the lowest priced. Very cool.
Did you manage to get apps like Google Maps working on the HTC Dream with this service, or is it only the browser that works?Originally Posted by mfaulkner
On my Palm, I can only get the browser to work.No e-mail or Facebook app

Google maps has downloaded successfully directly to my HTC Touch Diamond and works 100%. I've also tried the "YouTube" app from my phone, that also works well. The only thing I haven't figured out so far is the weather application. It tries to update, but never actually does.
The Android Market doesn't work for me, neither does YouTube ("There is no network connection right now. Please try again later."). Maps will load for me, but can't update the map (zoom or move to a different location).
This is with Rogers Dream rooted with Cyanogen 4.2.5....
