Where does iTunes back up your contacts?

I did a restore on my iPhone and iTunes asked me if I wanted to back my phone up... so my phone synced for about 30 minutes until it backed up.... I'm wondering where does iTunes save your contacts to? Will I be able to view all my contacts and numbers without syncing my phone back to iTunes? I'm having problems with my phone so I can't sync it back right now.

Where ever you tell it to.

In the info tab in iTunes when synced to your iPhone you tell it where you want your contacts to sync. Most people use Outlook, Address book, etc.

like he said. if you dont set up something for it to sync to it wont.

For me I use outlook for my contact and nothing else. I dont even have an email set up in outlook.

On a Mac it's the address book program.
In the iphone's file structure it's at:
/var/mobile/library in the AddressBook folder

thanks for making me discover google sync. Looks like I'll be using the hell out of it. Which do you use?

Im using google sync mostly, but was a long time Outlook user so still have contacts in there too. I suggest exporting the contacts out of google sync to back them up once in a while also.
