Not much faster than Rogers, sad considering it's a new network.

Unlocked former-Rogers iPhone on Telus HSPA+:

Results for speed test taken on 11/5/2009 at 03:51:13 PM EST.

    Download speed: 2690.41 Kbps (2.63 Mbps, 328.42 KB/s)
    Upload Speed: 314.11 Kbps (0.31 Mbps, 38.34 KB/s)
    Time to complete: 13.7 seconds
    Connection: 3G

Not too shabby, comparable to what I get with WiFi (on the downloads at least).

It might not blow Rogers 3G out of the water, but what makes the difference to me is the coverage. In a lot of places in Nova Scotia, there's no 3G (and in many places, there's no Rogers coverage at all).

I'm really pleased with the speed, sidenote this speedtest was performed at a place where I never got good CDMA coverage before, and where Rogers has no coverage unless you go up one level in the building! And the final kicker, in this area the telus and Rogers towers are in the same place. So all things being equal, I think it's safe to say the network rocks...now the plans on the other hand...

Maybe one day, decades from now we will see decent smartphone plans...one day
