Hello and I need help from the pros on this one...
I have a w755 which without warning, started rebooting from the verizon flash screen (corrupt firmware?). Battery is fine - phone was not dropped or abused, never flashed or hooked up to edit seems, etc.
I can get it into the bootloader mode, but unlike the world of resource for the E815, there seems to be nothing for the w755 other than the monster flash.
The problem is that I need to get the contacts off this phone and therefore I can't flash it with the monster firmware.
Does anyone have a version of the original flash file or an upgrade which can be applied in bootloader mode so I can stand a chance of getting these contacts off? Or, is there something else that can be done in this mode to get them that I am not aware of?

have you tried MSU with it? if you put it in bootloader and if theres is a software update for it it will install it and probably save your contacts, also you might want to use radiocomm to extract the numbers from the phone
I just finished trying all of those, including PST. Thanks, but no luck. MSU can't see the phone in bootloader mode. I found the flash update, but when the phone is plugged in via USB and in bootloader mode, windows reports that the device is unknown and I can't get it to load a driver... The device manager can detect it in bootloader mode, so I know the cable is working, but it can't identify it, which is expected because in bootloader mode I assume it isn't responding to any device inquiries, just waiting and polling for some basic protocol. Sounds like a catch 22 unless there is a program which can be forced to send the flash file out the usb port, in the hope that the bootloader will grab it and overlay the current flash. It seems that when a phone doesn't have this problem, opening it as a modem to do I/O is a no-brainer. This is going to take a little more time... I'm open to suggestions? Thanks.
Usually, phones will connect in modem mode even if they aren't turned on, as long as the battery is charging. If you plug in the cable with the phone off, it should (providing your cable is a charging one) start charging the battery and connect via USB in modem mode. From there you might be able to read the contacts with PST, RSD General, or even Bitpim. If it won't even make it to 'battery charging', then a flash is your only option.
RSD Lite or Radiocomm should connect to it in bootloader mode, enough to flash it, but you're not going to read the contacts or any of the files from bootloader. I don't think MSU will work unless you plug in a working W755 at least once, and make it to the 'Device out of warranty' warning. If MSU sees a phone in bootloader mode, it tries to flash it with an upgrade for whatever phone was connected last.
I'm sure there are upgrade flash files for the W755 on the float though.
Ok, I've fixed this - sadly without help from Motorola... As I thought, the W755 has a bug which corrupts the flashed firmware - I assume it effectively gets "walked on", which destroys the flash file except for the first part of the boot-up code, which can't complete. Just like a PC with a bad version of windows, the phone starts normally and then hits the corruption, generates some sort of exception and reboots over and over....
I was able to locate a firmware file update for the Verizon-carrier 755, which was probably leaked by someone with a conscience and coupled with the program RSDlite, I was able to put the phone in bootloader mode and flash the update. All contacts and phone history were preserved, which was the purpose of the exercise. The phone is fully-functional now. If you are searching for a flash file, DO NOT use the "monster" version that is out there. It completely overwrites the phone and with it, your contacts, call history, etc. Use only the update. Once your phone is operational, you can backup contacts and if you want, reflash with the monster version which is reported to be better than the original flash. The flash update is about 90mb expanded, 25+ compressed. The filename (in rar archive format) to google is: VRZMOL_W755_01.10.01P_PRIqq55074_CUSTOMER_UPGRADE_ 01.rar
Of course, I am not responsible if you brick your phone, but this is one way to get your contacts back from a good phone with a corrupted flash.
If this works for you, please note that in this thread!
This will happen ironically when you have a bad PRL loaded and I have never found a way to correct it other than put the phone in bootloader and reflash it with a monster pack. I am not sure this was your problem.
Here are all the monsters and upgrades that are leaked as of right now:
Thank you Thank you Thank you...Been looking all over for these...A customer bought a w755 from me and Backup Assistant wont reload, and cant be deleted...very strange. My only hope is to reflash the whole phone...I use RSD Lite with this, right? Thanx again
