Yup, I'm with ya...so I am getting both! My wife can have whichever one I decided I don't want.

Well, it sounds like its a good solid device. I have had many sliders in the past and that is pretty much the reason I am not going after the Droid. Every slider I've owned has loosened up over time, and I figure 1 less mechanical aspect to worry about. I am by no means a "power user". The Sense UI has proven popular and reliable, it looks great and seems to function fine. The Eris will work out just fine for me. BTW, the Eris avatar is up for those interested.

I am leaning toward the Eris, too, after all this time drooling over the Droid. The Eris has a way better UI, a camera that works, BT voice dialing and is not su fugly. Of course it has a slower processor, smaller screen and lower resolution. I am willing to accept the latter for the former. I'd wait for the Passion if I knew it was real and actually coming out.

I played with this in the store this morning and it was very difficult to choose. I went with the moto but I may still exchange it.

The phone ran VERY smooth. Highly recommend it. The only thing I tested was the browser on the droid was MUCH faster.

Just got the Eris, so far everything is amazing. The only problem I noticed is that I'm pretty sure dust and dirt will collect in the crevices around the phone, so it will be interesting to see how these phones look after a few months.

I'll be around here for a little while, so feel free to ask questions.

I don't want to comment on that yet because my place gets very poor signal. However, I do get better 3G coverage as compared to my Tour in the same room.

Anyone know if push email is available to any POP/IMAP account, or is it google mail only on the Eris?

The Eris is identical to HTC Hero I have. The HTC Mail app supports POP/IMAP but does not support push via IMAP IDLE or anything else. So yes only GMail is push using the dedicated GMail app.
