But seriously...can everyone test their text messages (not emails) and see if its autofilling the recipients box? This is a pretty primary feature of texting, and I'm trying to figure out if this is a bug or if im doing something wrong...

I also want to know how to download a ringtone attachment and use it.
Is there any way to avoid having the screen not reilluminate after a call is completed?

Can anyone tell me how to quickly turn on speakerphone for music and such? Just cant get my music to play through speakerphone for some reason.
I am also having a problem with this. Anyone in the "know" have any directions?Originally Posted by SlowMotionKarma
Unplug your headset, or turn off your bluetooth headset. It plays from the speaker if nothing is plugged into the headset jack and no Bluetooth headset device is connected.Originally Posted by Primetime21

Put them in a folder on your SD called "notifications". There is info on subdirectories of the "notifications" folder, something about "alarms", "alerts", and something else? Not sure if those sub-directories matter, but this thread is not so huge yet that you can't quickly find that post.
EDIT: the info about the sub-directories is not in this thread (I just looked), but apparently all you need is that "notifications" folder.
email and text work the same for me. It finds the contact based on the characters I type in the "to" field. It seems to do it in an odd way, but it does work. I do not know which field(s) in the contacts it is searching for this feature though.Originally Posted by jordn613
EDIT: I was wrong. I posted again below. Text "to" field only searches phone numbers, it seems.
I'm wondering if this is a bug then. Did you post your phone's specs somewhere? I'd like to compare.Originally Posted by Humpa
Using email, I found no way to save the mp3 attachment.Originally Posted by ronaldheld
But if I instead send the mp3 to phonenubmer@vzwpix.com I can press and hold on the message and I have an option to save attached to SD card. I did that but I still dont see it as a ringtone option. Perhaps the SD card just needs to be remounted for it to show up in the ringtone list.
Crap, I'm sorry. I was wrong - I forgot about that. I cannot search for contacts from within the messaging app - when you type in the "to" field, all it searches is phone numbers.Originally Posted by jordn613
I forgot about that bug - I am already used to initiating a text from contacts instead of messaging (unless I already have a thread going with that contact).
Is there a way for the phone to read out txt messages? Also.. is there a "notepad", "wordpad", or anything where i can take notes?
I am on a normal, Select calling plan only (without email feature; pay for mobile web per megabite). I was wondering if I'd be allowed to use the Droid on my current plan WITHOUT having to add the email/web feature for around $40 more per month? (I'm up for my NE2 next week) Any help/insight would be great, thanks in advance!!

right, based on numbers only ... if you type "972" (or "wpa", which is "972" in T9) it lists all contacts starting with "972". It ignores letters, it just trasposes letters into their T9 equivalent number.Originally Posted by SlowMotionKarma
EDIT: wait a minute ... now it is searching my contacts based on name/letters. wtf?
Maybe it works sometimes and not other times?
EDIT2: it seems it will search names, but only names that have a number in the "mobile" number field.
