does anyone have unlocked iphone 3g working on telus hspa

    hi all

im wondering if anyone has been able to get a unlocked iphone 3g (not 3gs)
    working with telus hspa

reason being i changed over yesterday from cdma to hspa using a unlocked bb bold which works great

i also have a unlocked iphone 3g i put sim into iphone it found telus and connected

then for some reason a message came on the screen to say that a text message was sent i know i didnt sent anything so then i tried to review sent msg nothing there i was wondering if the iphone sends a msg to telus to advise device change

when i changed over to hspa i gave up 15 ul data but i put onto hspa the 25 dollar 500mb data add on for bb i was under the impresssion that if i did get a blackberry data plan i could switch sim card between bb bold and iphone no problem just like you can on rogers etc

when talking to L&R rep yesterday who helped me with the change he mentioned to me 3 times that you can use this plan for iphone i played dumb and said i am only going to use the bb bold

does anyone have any advice or know if it is possible to change sime between bb bold and iphone with this 25 dollar blackberry data add on plan?

when in iphone it show telus 3g but no data works at all

thanks for all your help guys

hey, ya it should work for you and what telus doesnt know shouldnt hurt them....data kinda has to be manually configured through General>Network>Cellular Data Network

    Put the following:
    APN: sp.telus.com
    Username/Password: Nothing

    MMS
    APN: sp.telus.com
    Username/password: Nothing
    MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mmsc
    MMS Proxy: 74.49.0.18:80

and as a side note you always wanna make sure your 3G is on as nothing will really work if its off

The phone sends a msg and the network sends back a msg its fine.. telus doesn't care what device you use if you have a bb data plan as long as you have the data plan..

if you have a bb data plan you can use a bb or a pda

if you have a pda data plan you can only use a pda...

    enjoy

As far as I know, BB data plans and other data plans are not interchangeable. I believe there is a way to use a BB on a "smartphone" data plan (no BIS access, of course), but the opposite is not true, for Telus.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but I must be missing something. What's the benefit of doing this and why did you need to play dumb about it?

Hey guys. I have had a BB Storm with Telus on a very advantageous 3 years contract. I have now complete 6 months (still 26 to go). I would like to switch to an Iphone without having to loose my actual plan.

I have called them and they served me that song that I have to by the Iphone full price and cancel my actual plan for an Iphone plan which is very disadvantageous compare to what I have now.

Is there a way I could just by and unlocked Iphone on ebay and get a sim from Telus without having to loose my actual plan?

I see that Frang has done something like it but he went from a "bb bold" which is known to be HSPA compatible. How can this be done from a "bb storm 9530"?

    Thanks for you hints.
