Correct, USCC is giving its customers incentives to get a smartphone in the hopes of boosting their data revenues.

This is such a good deal. Unfortunately, I won't be able to take advantage... contract's not up until September, and I already have a BlackBerry (Pearl)...

Just curious how long have you had your pearl?

I got it in September 2008, so a little over a year.

But you can renew after 18 months which would be in March 2010.

Wow. I figured they'd reject it for sure. Maybe it's a YMMV. I still have to talk to my store about this. Bought mine same day you did. I've been dreading it, figuring it'd be a non-starter (so much for "The Secret," huh). Could you give me the location of this store? If my store says no, I'd like to have the name/location of a store who said yes.

Does anybody know if the new Crush will qualify for this and what kind of data contract do I have to sign for. Like is it for a year or more?

The crush is not a smart phone, therefore it does not qualify for the smart phone upgrade.

And even phones that do require it (smartphones and premium phones, such as the Tritan), only require the data package as long as the associated phone is active. If you later switch to a phone that doesn't require data, you can remove the package (or switch to a lower, appropriate package) at the same time.

I spoke to someone at the US Cellular Corp. kiosk inside West Towne Mall in Madison. He said if I went to that kiosk on the day after Thanksgiving they would do the price match.

But now I've changed my plans. I had my 5th application error 522. Five of them in a two week period. So yesterday I returned my Tour and got my money back.

I'm going to wait and see what happens.

I was told since I've only had my Tour for around 2 weeks that I would need to bring mine back in before 30 days and reactivate the Curve 8330. Then go back in on the 27th and get the Tour when the sale starts. She also said that they can hold the one I bring back in and just resell it to me. I just renewed my line for 2 yrs she said they would void that out and redo it on the 27th. Is that correct??

It's actually in the store's best interest to sell you a NEW Tour when you go back in. They won't get rebated again on the original Tour. At least this would be the case if they were an agent location.

I'll help clear some things up here.

The following information is confirmed and not rumor: (Don't ask me how, but I guarantee you that it is correct as of right now.)

First off, EVERY phone currently offered in the USCC line up will be FREE after mail in rebate (if applicable). Any data requirements for the rebate will also be required for the promotion. I.E. Easy Edge on a Ryhthm, Premium Mobile on a Bliss, etc.

A 2 year agreement IS required and you must be eligble to renew if your not setting up new service. The standard rule for renewal eligibility is 18/24 months completed of your contract or 12/24 months completed if currently using a feature phone and have not had anything but a feature phone active on your line for 12 months and you are upgrading to a premium data or smartphone/PDA.

The 30-day "price guarantee" does apply to this promotion, however the price match will be completed in the form of a bill credit, not an in-store refund (at least for agent locations, I don't know yet if COR rules are different on this).

Lastly, yes it is a 4 day sale kicking off on Black Friday and finishing on the following Monday. But I wouldn't expect to get a Tour on Monday as it will more than likely be out of stock at most/all locations and there is no word yet if the "while supplies last" tag will be attached to this promotion, although my gut tells me it will be.

Any other questions? I will try to answer them for you as best I can, but keep in mind that this promotion is pretty cut and dry and any off the wall questions can probably be answered with NO.
