Yes, but when you make the switch after 30 days remember that you'll have to pay the difference if the phone you are switching to costs more than the amount you paid for the first phone.

Meaning if my first phone is free on black Friday, the one I switch too won't? (assuming i switch when it's out of promotion already)

When you do a 30 day exchange, you get refunded what you paid. You'll then pay current pricing for the new phone.
This does not apply when doing a DOA exchange for same model (if your phone needs to be warranty exhanged within the first 15 days). For this, it would be an even exchange.
I spent most of the morning at a corporate store, an agent store, and on the phone with CS regarding my Tour. I originally renewed my contract and got an LG Tritan on 10/01 as I wrecked my old phone and had to do something and was eligible to upgrade. On the 27th when the Tour came out I traded the Tritan for the Tour..within my 30 days. Now there is this BF promotion and I am trying to get a 30 day price match guarantee. What I've been told at the corporate store and by CS is that the 30 days is technically up today, the 25th, and I am SOL. I spoke to a real nice guy in a agent store then who called his boss who called her boss who said they would push it through for me until Friday for a price match. However when they found out that the Tour was actually a 30 day exchange phone, they said the 30 days actually begins when you buy the original phone and sign the contract. I'm going to check with another agent in another town, but I'm affraid that I am just plain SOL. Oh well, a $269 mistake for dropping my Moto in the dog's dish on 10/01......
So, i am surprised that with this great phone promo we are not waiving activation fees. if were gonna loose our a$$es on the phones whats a few more bucks for free activation?

So I am looking at the flyer in today's paper about the 4 day sale and down at the bottom in the fine print it does not say anywhere that you have to be eligible to renew. In all other ads that I have seen for us cellular phone promos it usually says must be eligible for renewal. Any comments? Should I go in and point this out and see what they say.

It does say that a new 2 year contract is required though. Feel free to argue with the store associates but my inclination is that it will be to no avail.

The 2 year contract thing to me reminds me off when they came out with the promo national 1000 minutes. You could get that plan but had to resign a new 2 year contract. So to me it seems like this is sorta like a promo and to get you have to sign a new 2 year contract. I guess what I am saying is that I can't find anywhere on the ad that specifically says you have to be eligible to renew.

You do. I think it's been mentioned in this thread a few times and the team that monitors the Facebook page has mentioned it several times. It's more a promotion to try to get people upgrading to smartphones & data plans.
Like I said. Give it a try, call CS to confirm, whatever.
Now if you're upgrading to a smartphone or other phone that requires a data plan like the Tritan or Bliss then I believe you can renew and upgrade if you've been in your current contract for 12 months.
If you're making a lateral move to another dumbphone then I don't think you'll have any luck.

Yup, you do have to be eligible to renew. 10 months since your last equipment subsidy in a one year, 18 months in a two year. Special exception if you are upgrading from a dumbphone to a premium or smartphone - can renew after just 12 months of a two year.
I think "eligible to renew" and "eligible for equipment subsidy" are two different things. I switched plans and "renewed" a few months ago, but had the same phone for over two years and did not get a new one with the renewal. So, I am eligible for subsidy, and I can re-sign (renew) a two-year contract, which should make me eligible for the promo. Is this correct?
Just noticed on the website that the Black Friday sale starts today online and runs for five days. So I called customer service and they submitted a credit for the touch pro 2 that I purchased on 11/21 and the Samsung Trill that I purchased on 11/1. Just a heads up to anyone who needs to get a credit. You can do it over the phone today. No need to stand in line at the store on Black Friday.

I just got off the phone. They did not give me an imediate credit. She said they are doing a "List" since it will be so busy and I should see the credit in about 2 weeks. anyone else hearing the same story? It kind of makes sense I guess....
