It'll be $1090 for two of them, and I get $25 back in RewardZone money, so it's basically a net of $1065. That's $5 more than it would cost me at Amazon. I'm willing to do that to be able to return it if I don't like it or something (I get 45 days to return it due to my RewardZone Premier Silver membership).Originally Posted by jaysen2

Someone earlier posted that it was $500 at Walmart. I haven't verified that price myself though.
Hmm, if thats the case I might have to purchase at Walmart... Best Buy only matches 10% of the price difference - in this case 10% of $50 = $5 Granted, most CSR's at Best Buy don't know their own policy and will adjust price to match, then discount 10% from there... so you might make out but thats a HUGE YMMV
500 at Walmart for sure that's what I did
Android phones = data hogs
I REALLY hope page plus will introduce a unlimited everything plan (<$50), I really want the HTC Hero Eris. Any more news on data plans?
Now that you've had a couple more days, how is the data usage working? Is it using up some each day? I assume when you're not in wi-fi range, it'll use some data, no?Originally Posted by t6821hn
This thread is a gold mine thanks guys! I have wi-fi almost everywhere I go so if I buy a phone for $500 and get the 1200minutes/1200 texts and 50mb data plan for $30/mo that comes out to $50/mo over 24mos for voice and data. Not bad.
Umm you lost me with your math, but OKOriginally Posted by deputc26
ahha. I just checked out the Droid at wal-mart... I can pick it up for about $490 after taxes (using 10% employee discount from a friend) however after touching/playing with it for a bit, i think I am gonna pass =/
Don't get me wrong I love Android phones, however the keyboard is too 'tacky' and small for my fat thumbs..
Looks like Imagio or Eris... Just need to figure out if someone can confirm either work. My girlfriend wants to wait for the Curve 2 to be released

I was wondering if someone could please help me. I have tried to read most of the threads on this forum, but could not find an answer to my question. I am looking at buying this phone for my wife using the $99 deal through Wirefly that someone posted in one of the other threads.
I am thinking of ordering online and activating a htc touch pro that I have lying around and then cancel after 1 month and pay the ETF.
I am figuring the math as follows:
$99 (Phone) + $35 (activation) + $89 (first month's service) + $175 (ETF) = $398 TOTAL.
My question to all the veteran folks on this forum is - Is this possible? or does the phone come pre-activated through verizon. I know it will not work on pageplus if it has been activated on Verizon within the last 6 months.
Thanks for all your help. I am trying to do this before Verizon increases teh ETF to $350 on 11/15.
Won't work. From the Wirefly Terms of Purchase page:
So you'd likely have to pay an additional $200-300 on top of the ETF that Verizon will charge. When you sign up for wireless carrier service through Wirefly, we discount your phone purchase price by an Equipment Discount amount ranging from $200 to $300. By ordering through Wirefly, you agree to repay this discount if, during the 181 days after your new equipment is activated, if you:
* Fail to pay your balance due to your carrier each month
* Disconnect this line of service
* ...
Thanks aperry. I guess I will have to buy at retail price in that case.Originally Posted by aperry
His math was $30 a month plus about $500 divided up over 24 months. Rounding down to $480, over 24 months, that works to about $20 a month.Originally Posted by jaysen2
$30 + $20 = $50.
The math is a little off, but his point is pretty valid.
(30*24+500)/24 ~= 50.8/mo
That is exactly what I was thinking, not bad considering that the cheapest way to get the droid with verizon has no text and 450 mins for $75/month.Originally Posted by Coldplay
