Your data allotment on the unlimited plan is only 20mb. Assuming tethering was possible on an unrooted phone your 20mb would be gone in 3 seconds.

The reason I asl this is because we are GSM now for day to day usage. However, when we travel, particularly throughout rural areas, it would be nice to also have CDMA as a backup. I have also used a prepaid Mi-Fi in the past for mobile internet. So I am wondering if I can just activate this for the times when we are vacationing. I would then put install CoPilot for navigation, have a backup phone, and be able to use wi-fi Hotspot Tethering (hopefully).
You'd be better off with the TnT1200 plan. It's cheaper and has 100MB of data, with extra data at $0.15/MB. The "unlimited" has only 20MB. Either way, I doubt the plan would include enough data to make it worth it.

Well I have been personally trying to get QNC to work on my droid for a couple weeks now with no luck. I realize I am missing some setup option for a data connection but just can't figure it out (or find it on HF) yet. I used HW VSP and QPST to change the M IP setting to S ip. That stuck and allowed me to change the data rates from 196/64 (or something) to 14.4/14.4 and those changes stuck too. I have tried to enable regular data through P+ and I cannot even use that. (I changed the data settings back) Do I need to have P+ enable data access for my line? Will that help fix the QNC issue?

ok so i just bought a used droid off cl for 100. i actuvated put droidwall etc. does any1 thinking flashing to 2.3 is worth it? as far as i can tell phone runs great but 2.3 min clock speed is 1 ghz. but theres a hack to overclock droid.

welp in general is it worth it for2.3 and more importantly will droidwall work.

I can't get QNC to work either. When I change the M IP to Simple IP, all data connections stop. No 2G and no 3G. Change that setting back and 2G and 3G work fine again.

Sorry if this has been talked about already in the thread, but it's 39 pages long!

I read somewhere that if you change the esn on a moto droid to that of a straght talk phone, you can use it on straight talk service.

    True?
    How do you do it?
    Thanks!

Yeah its kind of correct. Its called using a donor phone. This works for other phones like HTC and Samsung but not well on Motos.

Hello Forums. I recently purchased the Motorola Droid X and had my number ported from Straight Talk to Page Plus. Well it said activation successful, but won’t let me make calls only text messaging works. My data doesn’t work either. What should I do to fix this, I read all 39 pages and found these fixes, are these the correct one I should do?

You should also try getting an ESN RESET done on your device. *22891 for roaming on the phone

Open the dial pad and punch in ##7764726 and hit send
use code 000000 to get access to the menu. Enter the information that ppc
gives you exit the menu and the phone will prompt you to restart.

MIN is a number that pageplus will give you. just tell them you need manual
program your phone and they will give you all the data you need to add
to the fields in the activation menu.

After you change your MDN/MIN, press the MENU softkey, at which point it will ask you to confirm the changes. When you do, the phone will automatically reboot. After it reboots, DO NOT DIAL *228 OR ANY VARIATION OF IT!!! Make a test call. There will be a prerecorded message telling you that your security code has defaulted to the last 4 digits of your phone number, then it will ask you to press 1 for English or 2 for Spanish. After that, your call should go through as normal, and you are good to go!

If this ESN was active on the network, the phone number
currently associated with this ESN is as follows: ___I took out the number (but it was here)___

The Device Make is: ___MOT___ (it is perfectly ok for this field to be blank.)
The Device Model is: ___DROID X by Motorola___ (it is perfectly ok for this field to be blank.)
The Device Mode is: ___Dual Band___ (it is perfectly ok for this field to be blank.)

The Device State is: ___ACTIVE_WITH_PPC___ (this field should NOT be blank, if it is, read below.)

If our system was unable to find the make, model or mode, those fields above will be blank. However, IF the "DEVICE STATE" field is blank (the last field above), you should try again because that usually means the system was not able to make a connection. You can safely use this tool as often as you would like.

If your Device State shows ACTIVE_WITH_PPC, then it should show you the phone number it is currently active on a little further up in this message. PROBLEM with this result: We cannot tell if the ESN is clear/clean or not. See, a device can become "blacklisted" after it was activated on Page Plus. That is rare, but it COULD happen. If you received this result back, we honestly cannot tell you 100% that it is clean. It is a GOOD sign that it is already active on Page Plus, because that means it was clean and available at one point, but we don't know the history since that point in time.

What happens when you try to make a call?

Does it half ring, give a half of dial tone, then disconnect? I do
activations all the time and in my area they sometimes do not
fully activate. When they don't, it does the above.

Let me know I I'll try to help you further

OK, I finally got it working. I did an ESN reset. Then I dialed the activation number and pressed 1 over and over again rapidly then it finally took. The only problem now is I bought a 39.99 Autopay plan and now my phone is already out, I don’t think the Plan came over with the reset and I just purchased the plan two days ago. To be continued…….

Page Plus told me when it activated it drained the 200mb of data due to the updating process. Now the phone seems to be working great.
