Yeah unfortunately all the people I've dealt with have had a lot of trouble with this problem.
I knew she wrong with the US texting, hence the crying, but I was under the impression that texts are $0.45 outgoing and free incoming in the US if you having a text package? That's what I've ready on HOFO anyway. I was honestly asking just to see what she'd say :P
Is there another department or person I can take my problem to? Its been nearly two months and this is getting a little ridiculous.

Well there's 3 things I'm experimenting with at the moment.
1) Make SURE you have Carrier Update 5.1. That seems to fix it for a lot of people. If you have a Telus-Bought iPhone, it should update for you automatically when you connect to iTunes and check for updates.
2) Have DNA reset the mags. Honestly doubt this will fix it.
3) I've noticed that the majority/only people having issues are those who "renewed" from an existing CDMA phone account, to an HSPA account. But those who sign up for a Brand New account don't have any of these problems. This one is a bit "out there" as far as resolutions go...but if there's any validity to my previous claim, then what may work is the following. And I'll have to experiment with this to see what happens:
- Activate an old CDMA phone on your account
- Power off both phones
- Change your phone number to any number (it puts your old number in a reserve pile)
- Do a full factory reset of your iPhone through iTunes.
- Set up a Brand New line. Get a SIM Card for it (yeah...$10 gamble).
- Put the new sim card for the new line into the iPhone.
- Connect to iTunes to make SURE it picks up the 5.1 Carrier Update
- Test it out now. If it works...just have them migrate the contract and phone number to the new line and you should be set.
Now...that is kind of a last resort, go for broke sort of situation. And only if you find someone in Loyalty and Retention that believes you are an actual churn threat or they just feel really bad for you. If I end up trying it out and it works, I will keep you updated. In the mean time...if you happen to get a hold of the 5.1 Carrier Update file, I REALLY REALLY need it for manually updating unlocked iPhones. =D
Oh and as for texting, last I checked I think it was a Pay Per Use rate of 60c per message. Incoming or outgoing. So if you had a plan, it'd use up one of your texts, + $0.45 "Text Roaming Fee."
Don't quote me on that as my memory is a little rusty. But I remember when I first saw it my reaction was "Oh no ****ing way...even Rogers only charges 15c for incoming text messages while in the states." I'll have to find out for you later.
Ok so I have another update. I talked to a more senior tech today, he spent a long time talking with me about the issue.
-The issue has a KIT (known issue ticket) with hundreds of customers attached, this is likely only a very small fraction of those affected.
-Only [some] cdma --> hspa accounts are affected, and only iPhones. New accounts appear to be fine.
-Telus has known about the problem since November 20, and Operations has been working with it since.
-Up and ups at Telus have been alerted about the issue and its a priority.
-They couldn't figure out what's wrong, so they had to contact a third-party. Sounds like its Openwave since they control MMS gateway (at least on the CDMA side?).
And the biggest news is that the KIT promised more information this week. So hopefully tomorrow or early next week we should at least know what the problem is, and hopefully see a fix.
If someone could call later on tomorrow and check that would be great, I'm getting sick of waiting on hold.
Not only does MMS not work still, but now normal texting doesnt work. Nothing comes in and then it says error when I try to send one, I restart the phone and it works again, but all the messages that were sent to me when it didnt work never show up.
They said they will look at compensation when the service is fixed, and at this rate, maybe the new iphone will be out by the time they fix it and they will give out new ones... ha ya right.
I'm having same issue. Myself and my 2 friends all switched from CDMA to iPhone, none of us could receive MMS. We both called and they fixed it but it barely works, I have to send a MMS, but then reboot my phone or the person doesn't get it. Same if someone sends me one they have to text me and then I reboot and I get it. My other friend called last week, the girl said its a problem with his phone even though we said myself and my other friend had to open a ticket and it took a week. She made him restore with iTunes and best part she said DO NOT click backup so he lost EVERYTHING which was a total joke. Since Friday now I can't receive texts period. I caleld and have a ticket, they said there's a stuck text but that it's a telus wide problem affecting lots of customres, and that it's around 2 weeks for a fix! So people are texting me non stop and I can't even get them for 2 weeks! Not impressed.

Mine stopped working on friday too, and i talked to 3 different people and none of them said anything was wrong with the system, they all did some changes on their computer and said they hoped that would work. i have since discovered that putting your phone into airplane mode is as good as restarting it, after taking it out of airplane mode i can send and receive texts for a short amount of time.
I was thinking of upgrading to an iphone - are you guys saying that switching from a bold (CDMA to HSPA) will cause my MMS not to work? If so that is a serious problem and I will hold off until they fix this.

That depends. Because the Bold isn't a CDMA phone. :P A lot of people who are on CDMA phones who switch over to HSPA, have issues with MMS and various other things. Not all...but a considerable amount.
If your contract is up already...I recommend you call Telus and tell them to "Guarantee" you that everything will work properly, and failing that...to provide you 50% off of your entire bill for the entirety of the contract. If not, then just cancel your contract with them and set up a brand new account. I haven't run into any friends who signed up for a new account with Telus who are having MMS/Call issues on HSPA yet.

Sorry, typo - meant to say switching from the BB Storm to the iphone (CDMA to HSPA)- not from the Bold. Was thinking of the other HSPA alternative I may go for.
It depends on if things are fixed yet, but I got my iPhones the day it was released and anyone coming from CDMA couldn't receive MMS. Had to call and open a ticket so they fixed it, but it's still wonky, I usually have to restart to make sure it sends. Like it says it sent, but my friends phones won't get it, if I reboot my phone then it will receive.
I'll try doing the airplane mode trick, I'm on day 8 now not sure what to do. Telus said twice it's a problem on their end that I have a corrupt message in my queue that they can't remove, it's giving an error when they try to remove it and that's what their issue is. Starting to get really frustrated though.
I think there is more to this problem than a corrupt message, since my texting stopped the same day as lmoreau. i am so frustrated with calling them and them telling me nothing and fixing nothing, but i am going crazy after a week of no texting. and pictures havent worked since i bought it in november. i wish i could get out of my contract, this is getting ridiculous.
