No problems, have green corners most of the time.
Somewhat of an issue, focuses about half the time.
Rarely or never focuses, almost always has red corners.
Many people have been complaining of auto focusing problems. I'm just curious at how wide spread this problem really is.

While having a poll is a good idea, most of the discussion about the camera problems are taking place in this thread:

Yep, red corners almost all the time. Sometimes even with out autofocus I can get a decent pic. Definitely needs a SW update.
my problem isn't so much never getting green corners....I get the green corners yet the pics are still horribly out of focus. I get the clickity click click sound when it first activates.
click click click and red corners... Do I tr to get a trade or just wait for an update/fix? I was thinking about calling CS just so there is a note on my account documenting the problem.
just open up one of the barcode scanner apps to find out if your camera doesnt like to focus, mine will auto focus from blurry, get it perfect, and then go past that a bit to blurry again before it stops
Here's the thing. I always get the red corners too, but the pictures are always perfectly clear regardless. So I don't see what the big issue is tbh.
And my barcode scanner will just infinitely focus/blur/focus/blur until it finds something. But again, it always does.. so it doesnt bother me.
Yep, I'm seeing mostly red corners as well. I can see the lens go past perfect focus, and then goes blurry and beeps at me with red corners.
I (usually) only get red corners in dark environments, trying to take a close up shot (shorter than 3 feet). In well lit environments I never seem to have problems from 6 feet out.
Only notice the clicking/whirring in quiet environments.
Bar Code Scanner works great, but have only used it to download links on my monitor.
Wow, only 10 percent working cameras, that doesn't bode well for exchanging it in an attempt to get one with a working camera out of the box. Granted these results are likely skewed as people with broken cameras are more likely to be looking for a solution. I was considering the exchange route, but I was trying to figure out how to convince them to start pulling phones out of inventory, putting the battery in, skip the activation procedure, and check the camera.
I'm skeptic about people who say they have no camera issues. I think all the phones/cameras are working the same, and that the people using them are taking pictures under different conditions (more lighting, distance to object of focus, ect)... and some people just pick ideal conditions and get good results.Originally Posted by PridgNYC
My guess is that returning it for a new one is gonna yield the same result for that user. And maybe things will approve as they release fixes to the software. But it would probably be a good thing if we all found out who to complain to to bring this to attention. This way they know they have some work to do.
i can't get my camera to focus. any ideas?
iPhone 4
Pretty much same here. I get red corners about 90% of the time but bad pics only about 30% of the time. Wish it was better but it's my only complaint about this phone. Love everything else so far and have a DSLR for when I want great pics.Originally Posted by Celeras
The camera is a known problem and I'm sure a fix will be available. Mine does not auto focus in camera mode or bar code scanning. I didn't buy the phone for the camera but I do want all my stuff to work.
Documentation
1. I emailed Verizon about the problem and asked them what to do.
2. I will go down to my local Verizon store and complain and see what and when they can do something
3. I will call tomorrow and complain.
I'm figuring if I give enough notice of the problem and offer to wait until the problem is solved, then I will be a happy camper. You have to give them enough time to fix the problem. Like I said above, this was a known problem before the release. I'm assuming a "Droid" type person would have done their research before they bought a phone. Buying blind is just not a good thing.
