I can get the barcode to work only with flat surfaces
try using the barcode scanner on like a bottle of shampoo or a bottle of tinactin it wont focus properly and wont register the barcode, for me anyway. flat surfaces 99% of the time go first try.
as far as pictures go, horrible would be the best way to describe them currently.
Has any one else noticed how dark the video recorder is? I have a moderately lit with halogen spot light track lighting. I pointed one of the spots on my infant crawling across the floor. I could barely see her at all in the preview video and the actually recording is still terribly dark.
This is the only issue I have with the phone. The camera stinks in anything but the brightest of scenes and yes the focus bug.
I don't like the looks of the autofocus issue in the OTA update document. Its stating that autofocus may take more than one attempt implies that it will work after more than one attempt but it never does. Doesn't appear they fully understand the problem.
Just got my Droid delivered today. The first time I took a picture it locked on and had green corners. I thought to myself "Hot damn I actually got a good one!" And then much to my dismay it hasn't focused good or had green corners since. Go figure.
Can someone explain to me the "green" and "red" bars or arrows I keep seeing talked about? I'm not fully understanding or seeing this.
When the camera focuses, it puts green or red rectangle corners around the screen to show whether it was able to focus or not. If when you are pointing the camera, you press the camera button (the hard button on the side) halfway like a real digital camera, it will auto focus and give you the red or green corners.
If your camera is set to infinity or macro and not auto focus, I don't think it shows the bars.
Just how many cellphones do you people need?
And what do you do with all those phones?
Congrats to who ever found the green corner auto focus workaround it worked for me but my photos still suck (still out of focus despite the green corners). I'm starting to think this might be a hardware problem . I feel like my 3.2 Megapixel Dare took much clearer pictures with less grain than my droid . Anyone know what brand the camera lens is? I think the dare had a pretty reputable lens in it.
Although I have green corners most of the time, my images still have soft focus and a lot of grain. This is especially true indoors where light is not abundant.
I have the same results, almost always have green corners and not much focus problems but indoor pictures with low light look like a 480x640 resolution, real grainy.I have not taken many outdoor pics yet. so dunno about that.
The camera sucks. After reading this thread I tried mine and even with "green corners" the pictures are horrible. That said, I really don't care. I'm not in my 20's and I can't remember the last time a drunk chick flashed her boobs at me making me wish I had my Canon Xti with me. If I could, I'd get a thinner, lighter Droid with no camera (that goes for any phone IMHO).
I don't know if this helps but I found this camera tip post on another forum. I was actually impressed with their photos: http://androidforums.com/motorola-dr...er-eggs-3.html just scroll down until the post with the big picture of a soda and keys.
They should copy the camera specs from the "Maxx VE" Best camera in a phone. "V9m gives red tint under certain lighting. Think I'll wait for some fixes to order.

My insider sent me a message regarding the camera issue(s), so I thought I'd update everyone...
I've finally updated to the latest candidate release for the next update, and I can tell you that your camera concerns should (most all) be relieved. Camera focuses like a champ, and the bar code scanner is so quick to pick up the bar codes that I don't even get a chance to "center" them now. I'll leave the picture quality comparisons to you experts, but I've noticed a vast improvement! And this is on the same phone... again, this is most definitely not a HW issue.
