I have a 42/09 and have focusing issues in standard mode but was fooling around with the settings and found the camera works great in macro mode so maybe the problem is in the software.
Outdoors with sunshine with the camera on auto works great. It will work under dimmer conditions but it starts red corners soon as I step in the shade still on auto.
I am all about this phone, but I still find it hard to believe even 14 people HAVE NO CAMERA ISSUES AT ALL.... i've had 2 droids, one was faulty and crashed/rebooted every 20 or so minutes, but my new one hasn't crashed a single time and I love it... but both cameras were absolutely horrendous... both click like crazy and never focus, I was at a Oregon Duck basketball game last night trying to take a picture in a completely lit environment, and even when there was very little motion, it wouldn't focus at all, in 5 minutes of trying to take a pic one time it got green corners the worst part is my camera wont take pictures unless it gets green corners, so I got zero pictures
ridiculous, im praying it is a software fix
I got my Droid on the 7th and havne't found any problems with the camera at all.. it works great!
So my camera works and am happy about that. However, I am getting extremely noisy scan lines on anything that looks dark at all. It shows up in pics and on video. Almost as if the sensor is not working properly. I am on my third droid and REALLY don't want to have to take it back, but will if anyone with knowledge on this thinks this is a problem that wont be solved with software.....

Post a picture so we can see what you're talking about.
It would seem it shows more up on video than camera. I tried to replicate what I had seen today and it's not doing it....could be just a viewer issue....

This is what I see on screen on all the time (you'll notice the scan lines to the right). This is all the time, not just when there is light motion like the TV.

Does it do the same thing if you record a video outside during the day?
If so, then there is something wrong with it.
I've only used the video recorder during the day and didn't have any lines like that.
Yeah, I'll do a test tomorrow outside. Regardless, it is what I see on the screen, picture or video. I have no issues with being an early adopter and being a guinea pig for issues, but to return would mean my 4th phone....argggg. I don't want this thread to deter anyone, these are problems WE are having and we are A LOT more picky than the public at large. The phone, imho, is awesome! Just give me a working camera dammit!
Hey, I read this over at the Android Forums: If you're having a lot of "red bars" and autofocus problems, try this out.
-Open the camera settings (swipe the left side out in camera app)
-Change scene mode to "Action" -Take a photo, there should be no red or green bars
-Click the photo in the top right (the one you just took)
-Then click "done" Now all (most) of your photos should get green bars. The focus should be much faster. Let me know if this works.
Credit goes to Sagz at the Android forums.
The posts that followed all agreed that that works. It does not have "flash" available for low-light shots but...
"We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force." Ayn Rand...
"The essence of fascism is to make laws forbidding everything and then enforce them selectively against your enemies."
Hey, I just read a post at another forum and it seems that a lot of people are getting better camera performance if they just cleaned their camera lens. Maybe it might work for some people here?
