    Extended battery, where are you.....

I took my droid off the charger at 9:30, by 1:30 i was at 30% battery with Wifi off... I need a super duty extended battery for this beast! Seidio has nothing yet. Anyone know of something in the pipeline?

On the Home screen, hit Menu -> Settings -> About Phone -> Battery Use to see what is eating your battery the most. But it only shows % since your last charge, so if you just plugged it in, it wont show what was used earlier. I had mine off the charger for 8 hours and only lost 10%, but I didn't use it much, a few text messages, browsing, and a few minutes of Google Nav GPS.

There were a couple of other people with bad batteries. Sounds like there are a few out there that came from a bad batch. You definitly shouldnt be loosing that much juice if you arnt using wifi, gps, bluetooth etc. I would take it up to verizon and see if they will switch the battery for you.

I agree, I got 11 hours today, Wifi, gps enabled (not really used much) lots of downloads, played 4-5 games and took 12-14 phone calls. Whole crap load better than my old samsung i760 that would have made it no more than 6 hours of the same load type.

I had to exchange mine due to it going down to 15% battery between 8:30am & 5pm with 20 min of phone calls, 3 texts, and 2 emails.

I have the power control widget running on one of the home screens though. I keep everything off (wifi/bluetooth/gps/sync). I don't need to get my emails 24/7 so I just pop open gmail and refresh on my own.

I'm not 100% sure on this but I think the "Missed Reminder" app was doing some battery draining too. Also my signal isn't the best at work and I think the phone has really been struggling to get signal and it eats up the battery quicker. I just downloaded "Missed Call for Android 2.0" and we'll see if that treats it any better.

On this new phone I've used a bit today (few phone calls, few texts, couple email checks, wifi on for a little bit for app downloads, playing a game, 10min of navigation) and I'm at 60% battery. Hopefuly this thiing does better at work! I really think taking sync off helps. The power control widget is sweeeet though.

I have been taking pics and video, playing games, web browsing, and tweeting all day and my battery has barely taken a hit. Maybe I am lucky? My camera gets green corners 95% of the time, too... I can live with that.

You have a bad battery. I did some very heavy usage on my Droid and it still lasts me the entire day.

Download and install Advanced Task Manager. I use it, periodically stopping all applications and the battery usage is like night and day. Prior to using it, I was lucky if I got a full day's worth of battery with moderate use of the phone. Now with it I am still almost fully charged 16 hours after I took it off the charger this morning! Had about a half hour of talk on the phone today and a cumulative maybe 2-3 hours of data usage.

Every now and then I take the phone out of my pocket and run the Advanced Task Manager. What a difference with all those background apps not running.

It kills the apps you tell it to kill.
Whether that ends up crashing the phone, reducing cpu usage, or having no effect is up to you...

What does the Power Widget do that tapping the Power Key does not?

The power control widget is quick access to turning stuff on/off. Like wifi, bluetooth, gps, sync, & screen brightness. Just makes things easier then having to go through the settings to turn them on/off or change settings.
