Anyone else getting a lot of freezes followed by a reboot? I had 5 between 9am-5pm yesterday, swapped for a new phone, had 3 since then. I've cleared out my apps, killed running processes, but sometimes it just seems to get confused then reboots.
Same here. It started happening when I loaded a bunch of fotos from my Treo. Its a known Android issue but I guess it was released without a fix.
I didn't want to start a whole new thread for this, but I think the main "Issue" I have with the Droid is its overall inconsistency. It just seems that you can never feel secure about settings you make on it, or how it might behave. For the 11 years I've been with Verizon, I've had one non-LG dumbphone, which was a Motorola. That was the only phone I can recall where when I'd toggle settings, it wouldn't act quite like I want or expected it to. I sort of feared that with the Droid.
I never know what setting where will override a similar setting elsewhere. Will ___ app change this system-wide? Do I need to change it in app and in the stock app version? What volume is this representing? Oh, not in this program in this instance, but in this program in that instance?
I love being able to customize, but not when it just creates a mess that is impossible to trust.
One text message will come in, I'll read it, and the notification will disappear. Another one will come in ten minutes later, and the notification wont disappear. Last night an email was not showing up at all, and I had to restart the phone to get it to go through to the phone (yes, I tried autosyncing and refreshing first, to no avail). A text message I replied to a friend sent it to my phone instead of to her! I had to start a new thread to her, or else every reply i made in the original thread with her would just go to my phone. Makes no sense. Problems like this really would need to be patched up before I'd feel comfortable settling in with this phone for the longterm.
I am getting weird texts from a 310 area code when I receive gmail messages. Has happened when receiving facebook emails as well as sms messages to my gmail. Any ideas?
I also had really bad reception with the Droid. It was so bad on a few call that I could not even understand the other person. Staticy (?) on other calls. I brought it back to the store hoping they would give me another phone but they would not. So, I am back to my curve which has excellent reception and clarity. I am very dissapointed because I really liked the Droid.
That's strange. Mine was staticy so I took it back and swapped it out Friday evening. They gave me NO trouble (although they could not figure out how to transfer the contacts. In the end, they finally figured out to just download directly from gmail).
I also have had a freeze and reboot about 6 times a day. I just removed all the applications I installed and did a hard reset. If that doesn't help I plan to do a factory wipe. It does make me feel slightly better that sometimes it crashes immediately after I hang up from a call. Maybe it actively tries not to reboot until the call is finished.
My wifi wont seem to turn on now. I select an open network and it wont connect (no icon up top, even) and trying to connect to my own home WPA network, tries to "obtain an address" but never does it successfully, still no icon even at the top no matter what. Worked yesterday...

My wife is experiencing this as we speak. She is very frustrated at how it seems she will set something, and then 15 minutes later, she will get a text, and no notification. Is this a Moto problem, or a Droid problem?

Not to say other Android handsets dont have their own share of problems, but the experience I'm having with the Droid reminds me exactly of that one other Motorola phone I used in the past.
Now I can connect to an open network, but not my own home WPA network...Required two restarts to get the wifi icon up top to showup. I'm torn now, do I take this back and try a new one, or assume this is a software problem that they're all going to have to some degree?

To elaborate, whenever I receive gmail emails I also receive a text message. For example, I sent a test message from a different email account to my gmail account and a few seconds after the email notification I received a text stating the following.

I noticed that too. When i set the notification (beep and vibrate) for text and Google talk sometimes it goes off, sometimes it doesnt.
