I think this is more of an Android issue versus a Droid issue, but here goes.

I uninstalled Panda Home. Since then, the application does not show up anywhere, but it does show up in the Marketplace app under Downloads. It says it's installed, but the option to run or uninstall are both grayed out.

I've read that in other version of Android, you could go to Settings/Applications/Marketplace and clear the marketplace cache, which sometimes fixes this. However, this option does not seem to exist on the Droid/Android 2.0.

    What should I do?

Found today another Droid problem. I couldn't figure out why the battery goes out so fast. Well, I got a new Verizon leather belt holster and of course it has a magnet. The holster makes phone to go to the "home" or to the "car" mode without a charger. So, overnight the battery was almost gone. I believe that this issue makes the phone to lock up during the day too. This could be a deal breaker for me.

I had the reboot problem Saturday after it being fine all day Friday. The last thing I did before the random reboots was install Astro. I ended up uninstalling Astro and haven't had it reboot since. Not sure if that was the problem, but I did notice other people here have been using Astro. Anyone here using it without any issues? Not knocking the program, just trying to narrow it down.

Is anyone else having a speaker problem? Hubby & I have both had this issue - speaker is nearly silent when playing media or when the phone rings. Settings are all correct, and once we reboot the phone, the sound levels are back to being correct. (This was a pain when I was testing my Slacker set-up this afternoon.)

I know of at least 2 other people that have had the same problem.

Any clues what's causing it, and if there's another way to fix it besides doing the reset?

    List of Problems:
    1. Goolge voice worked great the first time I used it but now has very low volume when I play the message. Volume setting does not seem to do anything within the app.
    2. Hotmail account keeps downloading the same messages over and over again. Random messages appear unread. When I make them "read", they randomly appear "unread" again.
    3. The normal camera issue. I do get green corners sometimes though.

Other than that, I'm having pretty good luck (knock on wood). Reception and call quality have been excellent.
May the Schlitz be with you

I'm also having the atypical (typical?) reboot/freezing problem. Here is my timeline thus far-

Friday the phone was fine, to be honest i wasn't paying attention to whether or not it was rebooting because even if it was, i probably would have shrugged it off. The important day is saturday and onward to sunday.
Saturday is where most of the issues began. Here are the following apps i had installed at the time, in case that may make a difference.
    -Abduction
    -Astrid
    -Ringdroid
    -Barcode Scanner
    -Transdroid
    -Shazam
    -Appsinstaller (something like that)
-Task killer x (something like that)
-Schottgun (Incase a zombie app comes out and i have to kill'em)
    -Google Voice
And that was it if i remember correctly. At some point in the middle of installing these (i installed them over the course of a couple hours) I started getting TONS of freezes which required a removal of the battery. I even made a list and in one day i had about 18+ freezes all requiring battery removals, as well as a handful of straight up reboots. Even a couple reboots that would hang on the droid eye as it booted up. Now i couldn't find any specific thing that would cause it to freeze over and over, it seemed entirely random. Sometimes when opening the slider it would free, after sending a text, after a call, opening the market, browsing my e-mail, opening facebook, using navigation, using maps, i came back to my phone after leaving it on a table and it was off, randomly rebooted while charging. I mean from what i can conclude, it was completely random and basically depended on nothing. Note, that none of these resorted in a force quit, it would just stop working. Friday night actually, i had a full 90% charge when i went to bed at 11PM, i woke up at 8am (with nothing outside of the standard apps + alarm clock open. The phone was on lock and the screen was off. the sync feature was on, screen was normal, and gps was off) When i woke up the phone was at 10% charge. Since then the phone hasn't depleted like that.

Now i decided a factory reset was in order. Did it, worked fine, and then after linking my google account it downloaded all my apps again. Within another 20 minutes or so the same problems were acting up. They seemed less frequent but in reality it was just as frequent. This is when i started getting all my receipts together for a return.

Sunday morning i did another factory reset but did NOT install any apps. The phone has since NOT frozen and for about 4-5 hours nothing has happened that required a removal of the battery. But, 2-3 times i've had apps ask for a force quit. Messenger did this one or twice maybe, and sometimes the home screen would do that when opening the slider. Also at one point the phone SLOWED DOWN a ton. After clicking on something it would be surrounded by the orange key press and think. it would eventually open the app but everything was like in slow motion. it eventually force closed the activity.home but the problem still persisted. i removed the battery and it was fine. I haven't had these force quits alongside the reboots and hangs i was having earlier. I decided to try installing all my old apps one app at a time to see if i could determine who was the culprit.

First app to install was ringdroid, after installing i pulled down the notification panel and the phone froze up. It eventually worked through the issue and seemed fine. i pulled it down again and it froze again. it asked to force quit something, i did, and it seemed to work fine. It may have been a coincidence, but maybe ringdroid was the culprit here.

I'll keep reporting in as I slowly reinstall more and more apps.

My question for everyone here though.

Am i just wasting my time trying to reinstall these apps one by one? Or should i just stop being a penny pincher and go back and get my free exchange...I can easily swing by tomorrow. To be honest i don't want to return the phone because i spent 12 bucks on the screen protector from the store. (Messed up 2, but the third was perfect) and i really don't want to have to buy ANOTHER pack of screen protectors...

So if you guys could give me your input on my situation. Is this just a problem with my phone? even after the factory reset and no reinstallation of apps, i do have occasional force quits of apps, and that odd slow down. What do you guys think?

EDIT: after installing ringdroid: phone froze up while in settings and rebooted itself without a removal of the battery. I'll try uninstalling ringdroid and see if this stops. (this was my first freezeup/reboot i've had since the second factory reset)

Phone is pretty good but I have noticed that:

    - the keyboard did not come up when trying to rename a bookmark in the browser.
    - the keyboard isn't multitouch it seems because when I try to type really fast it is catching every other letter sometimes if say I press an H followed by an O really quick then W it would register the H and W if I didn't remove my finger fast enough from the H before pressing the O. I would assume that if I pressed H then O, that H would come up first and even with my finger down when I press O it would register. That is my understanding of multitouch, though it could be wrong - this leads to a lot of issues typing.
    - Also don't like the fact the touch buttons are not real buttons because I often try to press the enter key quickly and overshoot and hit the back button, losing what I type - no option to save or confirm I want to go back.
    - When typing in landscape, it would be convenient to zoom in on the text box that I wish to enter information in, rather than go to a complete text box where I don't see what I am entering. To be more specific, if I am filling out a form and enter data under NAME and then click NEXT on the keyboard, it goes to a different form of a text box, but it doesn't say which box this is for, which makes me have to press BACK to get back out, see what the box was for, then click it again. it just wastes time.

The phone has been great so far with exception of the camera of course.

My major issue involves Facebook: I changed my FB password for security reasons after adding a sync account to the phone and have been unable to update my login credentials on the phone. I have been receiving username/password errors regardless of how I attempt to login even after fully clearing browser cache. Is this really going to require a hard reset? =/

    Others:
-Inability to copy/paste text in anything other than text entry mode. Iphone does this quite well, so I'm a bit disappointed. Is there an app to improve this?

-Battery door slides open a bit too easily.

Oh yeah.... Even though the option is set to have tones when I hit the keys in the dialer I am getting no sound from that at all. Is anyone else having that issue?

Were you using a feature phone and mobile e-mail before? These messages sound like it's coming from the push e-mail support for that app. Call VZW CS and have them disable the mobile e-mail account from your old phone. It's on their end.

I'm having the same problem and I am coming from a Dare with mobile e-mail. My new plan isn't going to go into effect until tomorrow though so do you think it will be fixed when that change occurs or will I have to call CS?

The easiest way to fix the Mobile E-mail error messages is to have the service discontinued. If you're impatient you could reactivate your old phone through My Verizon, go to the Mobile Email app's settings and choose unsubscribe. You should be good after that.

I'm also having the random reset issue. I got the phone on friday and it happened three times in the first two hours of owning it
since then it has happened several times a day - including two instances where i had to pull the battery, and one full reboot of the phone instead of the normal reset :-\

Seems like it only happens when i try to do too much - like moving between apps and hit the home key a few times as it quits responding. Annoying, but if its a software issue i can wait for the fix.

One other issue i noticed was e-mail failed to sync for the first time today, both gmail and my corporate exchange. I think i may have been partially to blame for killing tasks via task killer - the real test will be when i get up tomorrow there should be a lot of e-mail as it will be monday morning.

Might perform a factory wipe to see if that helps with the random resets. My camera does not autofocus either, but still takes decent pics. Will consider exchanging it but from what i've read on other posts here i have 30 days.

Problems aside i still love the phone - first smartphone for me, i think they just need to work out the bugs.

EDIT: Make that TWO full reboots as of one minute ago. Just trying to view an exchange folder...
