Count me in as one of the many who are unable to send a MMS. Tried to send a pic and three hours later it was still in "sending" mode. Tried more than once...same thing. I have received pics and slideshows though...just can't send my own. This is a very basic feature that should obviously be working.
Anyone have any insight as to whether this could be addressed in a future update? Or should I plan on just getting my phone replaced?
Works for me, just sent a pic to a friend. Have you checked w/Verizon to find out if there is anything funky w/your account?
Everyone should keep in mind that the Droid is the only device that is running 2.0 (without being hacked). Although there seems to be some valid hardware issues, I tend to believe a lot of of the issues are due to apps that are not yet 100% compatible with 2.0. Even though they appear to run fine, there could potentially be minor incompatibility issues that result in seeming unrelated problems. I say this because over the past few days I've started to see more and more updates come out for applications that I thought were working just fine. However, when I look at the update logs and such, I see the developers specifically reference "Droid Fix".
It never fails to amuse me to see everyone go nuts to be the first kid on the block with the new toy, but then that joy quickly fades when they realize the pains of being an early adopter. This is regardless of hardware, be it Droid, iPhone, Storm, etc.. There is a premium to being on the cutting edge. Unfortunately, I think a lot of people fail to realize this.
I wonder if anyone else has experienced this wifi/3G issue.
When I am at home I connect to my home wifi network (with NO problems) to download podcasts over doggcatcher. I don't want to go over my VZW 5 gig limit, and you can set doggcatcher to do this. Works fine. When I leave home, I turn off the wifi radio, but the 3G from verizon does not come back on. (I don't disable the 3G at any time, and I am turning the wifi on and off through the widgit that came with the Droid "Power Control".)
I tried turning the power off and on again and 3G comes back up no problem. I was looking at an HTC hero forum and the Hero had this issue also. Apparantly putting the device in airplane mode and then out of airplane mode worked for the Hero. I tried it and it worked for the Droid also. I wonder if this is an Android issue? Others have stated that "Locale" may help with settings specific to a given location setup based on your GPS derived location.
I've experienced that issue...or something similar. I leave my house (where I am connected via 3G and WiFi) and as I lose WiFi it appears the phone doesn't re-route data to 3G properly...data apps don't work until I reboot the phone.
Also had an instance at work today where I was unable to use 3G after turning off WiFi - got "retry" errors on data connection and had to reboot.
I also had all kinds of problems connecting to WiFi at work today for some reason - connect at home fine, and the work WiFi is the same ISP I use at home w/a basic WPA setup we use for customer testing.
For what it's worth been using the pattern unlock for 2 days, with no issue.
The pattern unlock isnt the issue. The issue is after unsuccessfully trying to unlock your phone via the pattern so many times, your phone can only be unlocked by entering your google/gmail user name & password.
I was raking leaves with my phone in my jeans pocket and somehow the phone came on and due to my movement the pattern unlock reached its limit and would only unlock with my gmail user/password..... when I tried numerous times to enter my google/gmail credentials it failed every time.
Picked up my motorola droid today, and setup both my gmail and aol accounts. My question is now that they are set up, I think it's cool and all that it goes right to my inbox, but is there anyway I can have my phone prompt for a passcode? If I lose my phone, or it gets stolen, I wouldn't want sensitive emails to be disclosed to anyone else.
Purchased Friday morning and have been using consistently with only one problem: on Saturday night my Droid just died, no power, wouldn't turn on, wouldn't reboot. Removed and reinserted the battery, restarted, and all was well, but it was a bit unnerving.
This exact same thing happened to my Sat night. I hadn't turned it on in 3 hours, but that wouldn't matter. Really odd.
My other issue is that the voice dial seems to suck tremendously. Is there a way to calibrate it to my speaking pattern or a different app someone can suggest? I said "Call Ray", it asked me if I wanted to "Call Almondo". The Imagio may not be as good of a phone as the Droid overall, but the voice dial on that thing was great.
Also, the Droid sucks even in moderate sunlight. Can't see a thing. I have to turn my back to see the screen. (I know this isn't really a bug, just hoping Motorola will read this and make adjustments on future models.
Overall, I think I got a good one. Not many issues.

This just happened to me for the first time as well. No power....screen black....wouldn't turn on.....power button wouldn't restart the phone. Had to do a battery pull to reset the phone and turn it back on.
I guess coming from a Storm 1, you get used to the occasional random freeze up and doing a battery pull.
I love my Droid, particularly seeing the Verizon memo about upcoming fixes.
I found a strange bug this evening however. I was messing around in contacts and decided to look under favorites, because I have yet to set any. I found three people there listed as "frequently called". My wife, my best friend... and some random chick from facebook. Huh?
So I check the call log, maybe I pocket dialed her. I don't use my phone for calling often, so I have maybe 10 numbers in my call log. She's not one of them.
Odd. I delete the call log for kicks, but she remains under my "most called" list. About to delete the contact all together.

For those of you haveing MMS problems: I was in the same boat earlier today (when I tried to send one for the first time). I could receive but not send. I called VZW tech support and ended up figuring out the problem for him...LOL.
For some reason I was able to send him a MMS but none of my contacts. That was the connection. My contacts as exported through Gmail from Windows mobile had a number format like 1(123) 123-1234. They worked fine for calling and text messaging so you'd think they'd work for MMS to Right? Nope. I picked up on this because I put in his number like 1231231234. After deleting one of my contacts and entering the number in like this.....it still didn't work....for some reason the phone remembered that it HAD been a contact. After clearing the message thread and restarting the phone IT WORKED.
So to get your MMS working, give this a try.
1. Delete any saved message thread, including SMS ones, for the contatct you would like to try to MMS.
2. Then go to edit your contacts phonenumber. Just enter the 10 digit number whout a leading 1 and without any parenthesis....let the phone put the dashes in for you.
3. (if you didn't have to delete a previous thread skip this step) restart your phone.
4. Try MMS.
It worked for me and now I'm going back through all my contacts to fix the number format on all of them.
i was having mms problems too. wouldn't send or receive. spent some time on the phone with vzw tech support, who did some changes to my account. now i'm sending and receiving...at least thru the default messaging app. i'm ok receiving thru handcent, but not sending. i'll go ahead and assume that's an android 2.0 thing and just hope for an update fix.
Handcent is to blame. I can send it fine using the built in messaging but not Handcet. They just released an updated version today however it didn't help.
