Thanks, that made a huge difference.

Edit: I also downloaded camera magic, the difference is night and day, way better then the stock camera app.

So if you setup your gmail account through the Gmail app, is it push? Or do you have to set it up as an exchange to be push (since gmail supports exchange)?

I'm using GMail apps premium for work and have a personal gmail account.
I tried to setup the premium account with active sync and got inconsistent results. It would work and then stop working ,then it would say the account was deleted... I don't think Google likes the Google -> ActiveSync -> Google, it's probably mixed up somewhere... I endedup forwarding my gmail apps account to gmail account and use everything through push.
If all you have is a gmail app account then it should work as push with no problems.

If you setup your google apps account thru gmail and just input all your app credentials it works flawlessly, Thats what i did after i didnt like how the active sync setup or operated, I've had no problems at all. furthermore you can setup google apps up this way on almost anything that has a spot for gmail info to be entered, just use your apps info.
    Good ××××ing luck

On an unrelated note, for those of you looking to sync your Hero with your PC or Mac (music, photos, files, etc) MarkSpace just released a public beta of their MissingSync for Android (http://www.markspace.com/products/an...c-android.html) I haven't fired it up yet but I *did* use their WinMo version for a while (before I crushed my phone beneath a truck wheel) and was quite happy with it.

I have a mac myself and am looking to get the HTC Hero. I really do hope I don't have to install windows on my MBP.

What do you guys think is the best protective skin for the hero? Plus I need a screen protector too, is Zagg still the best?

I have a mac, and I use the hero fine. Majority of the stuff is done wirelessly anyway, like syncing your contacts with google and etc.

If you want to sync your computer to your phone traditionally, then the sync program that comes with the Hero is PC only.

Otherwise, the hero will mount on your mac like any other usb device, so you can drag and drop music, documents and etc.

I did hear however that firmware upgrades like the Sense UI updates will be Windows only.
