    Best Non-Smartphone and Retentions Question

My girlfriend's 3 year contract ended in July. She never got a hardware upgrade the entire time, and is looking for a good deal to keep her with bell. Wondering what kind of offers we can expect from Retentions so I know what to barter for.
Also would like to know which non-smartphone is the best in terms of reception, texting, and mobile internet browsing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I think you already have a pretty sweet plan, 250min with per second billing is as good as 1500min with per minute billing, If you are willing to renew I think they will throw in unlimited browsing or ask for one of there bundles that incld text & browsing. Samsung Vice seems like a pretty good phone on CDMA
My Month to Month Bell Plan on HSPA/EVDO

1500 minutes? Isn't that exaggerating just a bit?

depends.. probably closer to 400 minutes MINIMUM. probably more. per second billing really does help out.
On contract terms and responsibilities and getting the right information:

When youre talking about signing a contract for 3 years that will in the end may potentially cost you 20x X number of months you really should do everything to protect yourself.

It depends on if you make mostly 15 second calls or 55 second calls.
You can't just make a blanket statement like that.

Acually not exaggerating at all 250 minutes = 15000 seconds meaning you can actually make 15000 one second long calls where 1500 minutes you can only make 1500 one min long calls, Per second billing is huge. Thats why Rogers, Telus, Bell don't offer it on most of there plans because they know with per minute billing they make more money.

Let me give you an example lets say you have two plans that have 35c a min overage and each plan incld's 100minutes billed by the minute and the other plan 100 min billed by the second. Lets say the plan that is per minute billing you went over your minute by 100 minutes by one second and your overage will be 35c a minute where with per second billing plan if you were to go over your 100 minutes by one second you will just get billed for the one second which is little more then half a cent.

depends on the length of your average phone call. varies from person to person. per second billing is very helpful though.

Most (if not all) per second plans are per second after the first minute.

Meaning every call will use a minimum of 1 minute from your bucket. so it would really depend on how you use the minutes on a per second plan compared to a per minute plan.

Making a bunch of 1 second calls won't do you any good. As they will all count as one minute.

So while per second billing is of course better than per minute, saying it equals to 1500 per minute minutes is a bit of an exaggeration. (It's too early in the morning to do the math, but i'll give it a go tomorrow if need be)

Thats a damn good plan. I don't see any reason why she shudn't resign unless she's not comfortable with 3yrs. The way I see it, u cud negotiate the browsing option with them, and maybe they will give u a credit on it. For u to keep the same plan, most definately she wud have to resign. Also keep in mind that because she already has a great plan, they maybe able offer her another plan that may include browsing, but just make sure that u're not leaving anything out and of course ur bill shudn't increrase dramatically. The ball is in her court as Bell would definately want to get her on board for the next 3yrs so Good Luck mate....

That might be true with bell and the OP didnt mention that his plan was per second billing after the first minute. I know bell is sneeky when the had per second billing but I wasn't sure if they being sneeky on corp plans too.

On the side note when Telus had per second billing plans from around 2000 to 2003 or so they true per second from the very first second like fido. I know at the time bell & rogers offered per second but they were sneeky about it, it was per second after the first minute. which is ok but can't beat true per second from the very first second
