    Changing devices with Sprint

I am *new* to sprint (I had them in 2007, but canceled) Now I see Sprint has a device changer online. My question is that I know they can be "wierd" with device changes, so if I were to swap back and forth with an older sprint phone I have, does that mess with my contract?
I think the wording on my contract is that the same device must be active for 22 consecutive months? So lets say I change my phone for the weekend 6 months down the road, am I screwed in terms of getting a discount on a new phone at the end of my contract?

    Thanks.

generally you're fine with the swap, although if you swap in a phone that doesn't have the same data features, you'll run into issues with the swapper, like swapping in a BB with a non-BB, or a 2G phone with a V or PV (3G) phone... it is generally the best to swap between phones of similar capabilities. And it will not alter your upgrade cycle...

I don't think the 2G/3G thing is relevant anymore - it's all the same now. BB to non-BB is still a problem, though. - sheureka

2G is PRE-1xrtt... which is why I distinguished between 2G/3G vs V/PV. The OP did say OLD phones, so I didn't know if he was talking about something like a 6035 or 2035, a pre-Vision, "Wireless Web" data phone, which were 2G, as opposed to Vision (1xrtt) which is considered early 3G.

Yes, there is no longer a problem between 1xrtt (Vision) and EVDO (PV). But there may well be a problem trying to switch from a 3G phone to a 2G (Wireless Web) phone (which were also non-e911 compliant)...

I ESN swap between my phones regularly and never come across a problem.

That clarifies it a bit for me. The phone I have is not that old but is not 3G: the LG LX160, I just didn't want to have a problem with the contract. As I get bored, and or Sprint releases different phones, I just want to have the option of activating them at least semi-temporarily.

How are you able to do this? I just tried to swap numbers on two of my phones and the system told me I couldn't because the ESN was already active, and of course, it is, because it's on one of my other lines.

All I want to do is swap the numbers on two phones, but it seems I can't do that.

Thanks for any advice you may have...
This is the 21st Century, not the middle ages. Is my homosexuality really that much of a threat to your "family"?

I do it with inactive phones. From what I know, you can't do what you're proposing since both phones are tied to a line. The best I can recommend is getting a spare Sprint phone and playing the swap game with that (you should probably have a backup anyway for other reasons).
