How to debrand a Nokia 6263 and restore original email and IM clients

    1. Backup your T-Mobile 6263 using Nokia PC Suite

    2. Connect the phone to PC with USB cable. In the phone select Menu->Settings->Connectivity->USB data cable->Nokia Mode

    a. Open Phoenix
    b. Press Ctrl R
    c. In the Menu select Flashing->Firmware Update->click the '...' button->unmark 'Detect Product Automatically'->select product code 0557726 and press OK->press 'Refurbish' and wait....

    3. Restore your phone settings with PC Suite

    4. Again: Connect the phone to PC with USB cable. In the phone select Menu->Settings->Connectivity->USB data cable->Nokia Mode

    5. Open Phoenix and press Ctrl R. In the Menu select Flashing->Firmware Update->click the '...' button->unmark 'Detect Product Automatically'->select product code 0547828 and press OK->press 'Restore User Product' and wait....

    Done!

That worked for me. The Nokia generic email and IM clients were restored. You will have to get TMobile email and IM settings for them to work of course.

I used Phoenix Service Software 2009.20.010.39068 and
    rm207_CareDP_4.0_GLOBAL

PM me if you need them

Duuuude! Looks like you've been busy since I PM'd you.

Do you think if I've already got generic Nokia firmware running (albeit without the e-mail and IM app) that I can follow your directions and have the same results (I don't know what product code I installed, but it's good)? That is the only thing that's lacking from my Menu screen, and I would kinda like to get them back, at some point.

And how would I get the settings from T-Mobile for this particular task? After the debranding routine I already did, I got the basic settings needed from the T-Mobile configurator, which I hear no longer exists as it was. Any suggestions on solving that?

BTW, when I first attempted (and succeeded with) all this, I had just gotten a new Vista computer back in April this year. I tried to install and run the service software on it, but it wouldn't work. I kept my previous XP computer around just to try it on that, and that's the combo that worked, so I still have it with the software installed.

You need to backup your T-Mobile branded 6263, then debrand it, then restore the backup settings and then restore (not refurbish!) the t-mobile modified firmware. In that order!!!

You'll get back nokia generic IM and email clients, not the t-mobile versions!

Settings for the email client are the same you use in any client (Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Windows Mail)

For Yahoo IM, server address: http://wirelessvillage.yahoo.t-mobile.com
(First add a new IM application in Settings->Configuration->Personal Configuration Settings)

You can do a google search to find the IM servers for MSN, AOL, ICQ (they look similar)

But they will work only if you have a data plan!!!

    My 6263 is already debranded.

Any alteration of your instructions needed? I just want the e-mail/IM app back.
