New DAVE Billboard Ads in Downtown Toronto

I was just driving today and i saw a big billboard at Church St & Shuter St in Downtown with a big Ad saying essentially the same thing as the DAVE Wireless website splash page...

i tried to take a pic while driving but it didn't come out so clear...

Question is...why are they creating brand awareness for a brand they are not going to even use? What a waste of money really! Make a brand early and advertise early so by launch time its a well known brand that people can put their trust into!

Maybe the brand will be DAVE - they could do worse. Like MIKE, DAVE is a simple, basic kind of guy, nothing fancy, hard working, easy to say and remember. All they have to do is add the graphics. Or maybe not.
10-year Telus client who will transition to an iPhone when the BB $15 unltd data plan expires - or maybe before.

I heard it was a placeholder of sorts.

They have said that they won't be using "DAVE" as the brand. They still continue to say this up until last week's interviews, but all these ads with the DAVE brand on it is is contradicts this.

It looks like they will use the DAVE brand... or just enjoy wasting money on advertising a brand they won't use.

Exactly my point....even WIND...which is the final brand! has yet to put up a single billboard anywhere and yet "DAVE" is up on a big billboard not just anywhere but downtown at church & shuter....not too far from dundas square might i add...

Oh well...as long as it isn't robbelus anything is good news!

I don't think DAVE is such a bad name. Is it any worse than Fido?

I actually live at Church & Shuter! I'll have to go check it out.

I think they are just advertising to sway public opinion on Wind's comment about how they are the only real competition coming..

my opinion: DAVE is scared of WIND launching, spending a few bucks on advertising to put a nail in Wind's coffin probably seems like money well spent to them

I am sure they will link the new brand in Dave Wireless web site.
So money won't wasted, well, sort of.
