If your considering the Droid X then you apparently dont need direct connect so why would you even consider the i1 and iden's slow data speeds?
Mainly because my DC list is dwindling and it's no longer a mission-critical need for me like it was almost ten years ago; my Nextel plan is a heck of a lot cheaper than if I went with V; and the phone is dang near indestructible as I'm still just as hard on my phones as ever

Re: Motorola i1.......
Actually, my friend and cousin both bought Boost i1 phones yesterday. Called up Motorola...got the unlock code for each phone, and they both then registered their i1 phones' IMEI #s onto Sprint as Nextel phones and the phones work fine. Took a total of 20 minutes (about 10 min per phone), and the phones needed to cycle on/off about 3 times to do it. So I don't know why anyone is paying people on eBay or downloading viruses to do it. Seems stupid, but hey...to each his/her own.
BTW, got to play with the i1. Honestly, it's as snappy as the Evo is...but sturdier. I like it better than the Evo actually. The only serious difference is in the web browsing speed when one is NOT in a WiFi area. Otherwise, the i1 is (in my book) a far better phone....plus it has PTT (which the Evo does not).
My guess is Sprint is purposely delaying the i1 launch because it doesn't want the i1 to cannibalize sales from the Evo. Yeah...like the BB 8350i cannibalized sales from the BB 8330 eh? Give me a break.

Well, I wish I had spoken to the same people at Motorola that your cousin did, b/c I called there no less than 10 times and each person refered me back to Boost Mobile, saying that the unlock code is installed through the service provider, not the phone manufacturer.
Either way, it can be done, just need to get the right guy at Motorola or costs you an extra $20.

Re: Motorola i1.......
Well, we did get transfered to about 4 different people at first...one CSR, then a 2nd CSR, then a tech for Android-based phones, and finally a specific tech for Android-based iDEN phones. So it took a while, I won't lie. But no matter how one goes about unlocking their phone, doing so may be the smartest thing you can do.
And after hearing how simple it really is, I'm surprised more people don't unlock their phones that run on Android OS...seems like a no-brainer to me.

Obviously today was a no-show. Oh well, time to port to Boost I guess. I'm not leaving iDEN but I'm not willing to wait another 10 years either. Another Dan Hesse screw job.
This is getting pretty dumb. I can't believe they would take this offering and basically dangle it in front Nextel customers like this. Of course for the 5 or so people on this board that seem to have much interest, well, perhaps that's why, just not enough subscribers to make it exclusive.
If it weren't $400 I would be tempted to go to Best Buy and get it. Heck, if I wasn't on SERO then the Boost $50 plan would be probably the best way to go on that.
