Home++ can screenshot, where's the standalone app?

I was under the impression that you either needed Root Access, or the SDK in order to screenshot your droid. Well Home++ has a screenshot feature built in that works without either.. anybody want to take a stab at a standalone version?

there is a standalone version/app of screen capture already. However to use it you do in fact need to have the device rooted, once rooted tho just download Drocap2 from the market

Thats exactly my point. Home++ does this without needing to be rooted. There is no reason why a standalone app should require a root!

yea only as of yesterday after there update. Fact is you'll need/want your Droid rooted anyways at some point. A lot of app do in fact require root access to function anyways.

It's really easy to do and take about 3 mins tops.

It can only screenshot itself, it doesn't work in other applications as of now...

Nothing can be farther from "fact", actually. I have no desire to root my device, and never will.

Now, if you're done talking about the irrelevant.. home++ proves this is possible without root. Waiting for it to become standalone.

I think the difference is Home++ can do a screen capture because it has full control over it's own app where as a standalone app would not have full control over the stock Home App, hence the need for rooting.

Lol....to each is to there own I guess. Makes no sense to me to own an Android device without rooting it tho. That is the whole point of it being opensource and to customize it to your likings.

Also I'm curious seeing as I don't use Home++ which is why I'm asking. I was told it will not take screen shots in other apps only of the home screens. If that is the case they it is a pretty limited feature and kinda useless until there is a fix if it is even possible.

Be more precise. Home++ proves you can take a screenshot of the home screen without root. No more, no less.

Moving on from the trolls, I wrote some basic features today and from what I can see the root portion of this process is completely unnecessary. If I can get a hold of someone to help me with the backend, maybe we could whip up a beta.

There's not a single troll in this thread which I'm guessing is why he asked.
