Legacy Alltel Customer being treated like Scum by Verizon

Well, here it is late in 2009 and we just made the move to go back to AT&T after 5 great years with Alltel. We had GREAT success with Alltel over the years and were looking forward to the Alltel-Verizon merge, that is, until it actually happened.

Well, that went south really quickly as Verizon started by totally screwing us on so many fronts and basically treating our 262 lines of service as if they really didn't care if they kept them or not.

It all started when we requested a new separate account for a new Business Venture on July 18th and 4 months later and much begging and hours of calls to various folks in the Verizon organization, the account is still not there. Then about a month after the magic date (July 11) the My Business website all of a sudden quit letting us do any swaps or activations.

My background being in .net and ASP site development, I immediatly recognized the fact that something on the back end had changed. When I reported this, I was told by our local folks and national customer support that Alltel Legacy Customers could not activate Verizon Equipment on the Website and could only go Alltel to Alltel or Verizon to Verizon. I told them I had been doing everything, Alltel to Alltel, Alltel to Verizon, Verizon to Verizon, for a month with about an 80% success rate and that now I couldn't even activate a new Verizon line of service or anything, for that matter. They told me that was not possible, I didn't know what I was talking about and it was going to be an ongoing issue until I signed a new contract and replaced all my Alltel Equipment with Verizon. They also refused to open a trouble ticket.

This went on for over 2 months before, because of a complete fluke, I was put in touch with the person in charge of the Website Group. I gave her my take on the issue and even told her the date it started. At first she gave me the same old song and dance, that is, until she went back in our records and indeed saw that I was completely right. Upon further research and a week later, she got back with me and told me that I was right, that the Accounting Department (in all of their wisdom) had the IT department delete a critical legacy Alltel billing code that caused any transactions from a legacy Alltel customer to fail. And she confirmed the night it took place, exactly on the date I said it did! AND IT ONLY TOOK 2 MONTHS TO GET IT THROUGH THEIR HEADS and 3 weeks to FIX!

The final straw was when I contacted our so called "Reps" boss to complain about the 4 month wait trying to open a new account and the other issues that had gone on deaf ears and he told me that I was "Too Demanding" as a customer (because I wanted to open a new account in a timely manner and expected the website to work properly?) and Verizon didn't care if they kept my business or not. (Thank you Mr. Rick Rodriguez, Major Account Manager!)

Sooo, I'm taking my 262 lines of service to multiple carriers and telling Verizon to go pound Sand.

Anyone else experience treatment like this at the hands of Verizon?

I have a Alltel calling plan, migrated to Verizon, with 5 Verizon devices in use, in fact I recently purchased at full retail a chocolate touch from "Alltel" just so I could keep MOU data usage over MB data.

Red head, I've asked this before and no one could say for sure maybe you will know. I have an Alltel plan and I have just renued my Alltel contract for two years. With the renue I got the Motorola Barrage. The question I have is : If I re initiate my old Alltel E-815 after having the Barrage (That charges for MBs for tethering) Will i only use my MOU with the old E815. I only have the use to tether about a week each year and would shift back to the Barrage after that. Just wondering as it's not worth it for me to get the tethering plan for that little of time.. Thanks..

@sealark: forget tethering - go for a pre-paid air-card. Pick up a compatible data device somewhere - and use the Pay as you go broadband.

Just switch to a Verizon Business plan. I am sure they would have given you a better deal if you talked to them. Oh well. We just had a business bring 300 numbers over from AT&T this past weekend.

    Tug,
I would send a letter by express mail to the CEO of the wireless diviision of Verzion stating your case and up until now the the Alltel-Verizon transition had been smooth and you looked forward to a "beautiful friendship" with Verizon, However you had a problem-and got no help from the Major Account Manager by name. I don't know what the outcome will be-but s*** rolls down hill. The Account Manager might be making amends.
Moving 262 lines is quite a chore.

No longer a VZW employee, but still a good information source.

Oh look. VZW's mouthpiece made his way back here. Go away you worthless troll.
This confusion can easily be avoided if you pronounce the word intended aloud. If it has a voiced Z sound, then it’s “lose.” If it has a hissy S sound, then it’s “loose.” Here are examples of correct usage: “He tends to lose his keys.” “She lets her dog run loose.”

    Loose
not rigidly fastened or securely attached

    Lose
to miss from one's possession or from a customary or supposed place

Also, just because a word has an "s" at the end, doesn't mean it needs an apostrophe.

I had the very same experience with old AT&T becoming Cingular back in late 2004. Once Cingular took over -- Cingular locked out any and all changes to legacy AT&T plans, unless you moved to Cingular and reopted for another 2 year contract.

After dealing with this noise for 12(+) months, when my AT&T Blue contract came up, the very next day, I shut it down and tile AT&T to pound sand.

There is something perceived as evil about legacy customers being acquired by a new company that they want them gone! I feel for all of the old alltel legacy customers who are now with Verizon and if they are all being treated like this.

And just what part of your thick skull came to the conclusion that I DIDN'T have a business plan?

You think I carry 262 lines on a personal plan?

Plus, I've talked personally to the President of the Gulf Coast Region Business Group and he just merely referred me back to the local clowns.

I never had anything like this happen while I was with Alltel and no, porting over 262 lines to AT&T has been a breeze. The account manager that was assigned to us has made the transition VERY easy and I've had nothing but good experiences.

I think he was suggesting you should have switched from Alltel Business price plans to Verizon Business price plans (if you hadn't already done so before you ported).

Actually, All Non-HTML devices on Verzion use MOU. Env1, Env2, the V, Decoy, The LG 8300 off the top of my head. So Yes, You can switch from MB to MOU. It will change the PAYG feature to be correct to the ESN.

In all honesty and reality, it's not like those carriers care about what you think anyways or what problems you had with Verizon or anyone else no matter what they say. I've seen others with AT&T, Alltel, T-Mobile, and others all complain about similar treatment. It's not like this is isolated to one carrier or one person and not like your 200+ lines really matter to a carrier with 80 million people. For every 1 person taking 200+ lines away from a carrier, theres someone bringing 300+ lines. So the point is moot. I've seen this type of thing happen with EVERY carrier.

So IMO switching really isn't proving a point. In fact, to those leaving the carriers you are going to for the same reasons or similar ones, may think you are being foolish.
I also hope you weren't talking to them like you are talking here. Like you have some superior knowledge on them. If so, it's no wonder they ignored you. I'm sure they get plenty of armchair experts telling them how things should be done or what is wrong as it is and that they all have knowledge of the same things because of a Yahoo Group they run. (Not questioning your experience, just saying.)

So I'm sure you'll have luck with the other guys for awhile. That is until one of them screws you over too in some way so you can come on here and rant again about them. And it will happen. Its a matter of time. Just ask all of the other people that have made threads like this about other carriers in the other forums. Best of luck with them. I'm sure it will be a dream for awhile. But dreams always come to an end sooner or later.

    negative much?
what is this new feature, and how can I manipulate it in order to make myself seem superior to those around me?

Yeah, it's only TWO HUNDRED SIXTY TWO lines (how many hundreds of thousands of dollars in business is that over two years? ) Yeah, Big Red's in the Black they don't need little accounts like that from "overly demanding" customers.

I guess some people are used to being screwed and think that it's just normal.
