How about a referral program -- $5 off your bill for three months every time you refer someone to join?

There are many reward programs out in the industries (Best Buy Rewards, Aero Plan, Air Miles, etc.) that consumers are involved in. As consumers, we earn points through these programs already, so there is potential for Wind to subsidise their handsets through this programs that third party companies have. Consumers already have many points and plans in place with these third parties, and have many points which they do not use; it would be a great opportunity for Wind to piggy-back on these programs for their Customers.

Would love it if they hooked up with Aeroplan or Air Miles.
I think it's good for a short promo. ie. 3 months for every city they launch in. Once they go national, it'll just be a waste of cash to get a referral when everybody knows who they are.Originally Posted by potentpotable

Simple marketing suggestion:
Go to every high school in the GTA and give free Wind phones to the 10 most popular kids. Once they realize Wind2Wind is included in the $15 plan, Wind will own the teen market. The families will follow soon after.
thanks for the link... i was searching by phone makes and models.Originally Posted by kEiThZ

now i know when i was in highschool it was all about pagers and then the 3 out of the group with the cell, and sometimes cell/pager. (got my first pager in gr 5what do you mean you dont know who i am?...hello??...im kinda a big deal lol) also was the first to discover prepaid fido in gr 9 or 10 and then sold them for a markup...every1 thought you had to be 18 to get a phone...lol... nokia 5190 with snake was a hot seller. and the erickson with the pull out antena and the flip over only the numbers.
im sure almost every kid has a cell now however you gotta remember most are paid under their parents plans, their parents business plans, or pay as you go. if you give 10 away in each school there may not be any more market in that school...i say more like 2-5 max and make them blackberries. kids go nutts over blackberries and iphones (me 2 lol)
Second marketing idea:
Offer the employees of your competitors YOUR employee price plan.
Nothing will destroy morale faster in the ranks of the enemy than knowing they can be treated better on the other side. That's why you always wanna treat POWs well. You want them to tell their buddies how good it is on the other side.
how about a free phone of equavalant value/features as your current one when you cancel your contract and port your number over to wind.
this one i like. takes some risk out of the big cancelation fee.
Too expensive and too risky for Wind without a contract.Originally Posted by ghetto_mike
then how about 3-6 months free when you port your number, cancel your contract, and buy a handset.Originally Posted by kEiThZ
makes the cancelation fee a wash for the customer, wind only looses airtime and data, and they still get the sale of a phone and some sort of review or referal plus if the customer is happy they will keep them.
i think this is fairly reasonable.
^ I can see 3 months, but 6 is stretching it.
+1. I know of some older folk who make use of cell phones but their use is limited to the numerical keypad and the Send/End buttons. A simple, no-frills phone with a simple UI would easily serve this type of mobile user.Originally Posted by kEiThZ
