Big screen with a small capacity (1230mAh) battery!
Sigh!
HTC lies again, 384MB RAM, lies to 448MB (adds user not accessible system-CPU 64MB RAM buffer)

Think they will have it 3G capable here? I know the import version isn't 3G capable (not for us anyway), or so they say. If not, I am going to get a import.

Of course it will be. They would be completely insane to release it without US 3G support.
One more question. With the import version, with it not being 3G capable here in the states, think it would be upgradeable via software update, or would it take a hardware update? I am thinking it would be a hardware thing considering it should be a radio upgrade. Here in my area we only get EDGE anyway, you have to travel up the road maybe 5-10 miles and then you are in 3G coverage. So I am even wondering if the 3G thing would even be worth waiting for the US release.

Does anyone know what the usual, or average, amount of time it takes for a device to go from the FCC to store shelves?
Well I just got off the phone with TMO customer service and have been told they are testing the HSDPA 3G in the Philly area now. Which is what the HTC HD2 import is using. As he said its going to be the normal for the US coming sometime soon. And they will test in more areas. So this phone is possible to run the 3G here in the states, just not all over. So I asked if I should go ahead and get this phone now. He said why not, when it comes out here it will be the same phone basically, and you can update the ROM once it hits shelves here. As for when it will be here, he doesn't know. Said to keep check on TMONews site and it will tell, and that will probably tell before they would even know. So there you go.
The European HD2 won't do 3G here. The Euro version of the phone uses the European 2100Mhz spectrum for 3g, while T-Mobile USA uses the American 2100Mhz spectrum. Even though they're both labeled as 2100Mhz they aren't the same. It's a paired spectrum so they use one frequency for upload and one for download. The only frequency they have in common is 2100Mhz for download (hence the name). The US and Euro versions use different upload frequencies so they aren't compatible. I have a Euro HTC Touch Diamond on T-Mo right now, which uses the same frequencies as the HD2, and I don't get any 3G signal. It sucks but its what we gotta deal with for now.

I think the key part of that conversation is that HE DOESN'T KNOW. From everything I've seen, it's more than just a ROM upgrade.
As for time from FCC to retail, there's no pattern that I've seen. The big holdup with most phones is that they need to be approved by the carriers. No telling how long that takes.
Look at the TP2 for example. AT&T has had it for a while now. Tmobile still hasn't posted the upgrade.
