Ah okay. I didn't use the official one that came with the fido firmware, so I didn't know the one I was using was outdated.

    Hi there,

    So I just ordered a t715a.

I read and reread all these posts on the forums regarding the browsing plan. According to these forums, the 10$ unlimited browsing plan WORKS with everything but tethering on the t715a. However, the rep. at retentions told me it doesn't work since it's 3G. I told her I heard it works, and asked if she could explain this.

She said 10$ unlimited browsing will only work for wap and that if she gives it to me, she'll have to disactivate my GPRS. Does this make any sense? Will I still be able to use everything on the phone if GPRS is disactivated?

In the meantine, I took a 15$ 150mb data option, which I can change at anytime if I call back.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks so much.

    Ok, thanks. I trust.

However, when I call back and get the 10$ Unlimited browsing, do I let them block my GPRS? Will that change anything? I'm not quite sure how they do that, or exactly what it does...

Don't let them block gprs. If anything, it'll be a backup for your data transfers if you're in a location without edge or 3g

    Thanks.
Last question. Can I download stuff (Gmaps, opera mini etc) with that UL browsing, or is it really just for browsing and using the applications?

    Cheers

If it doesn't now, it will soon. Your phone dials out when you tether, which is how they tell you're tethering ..

Now, if the T715a had WiFi ...

I wouldn't risk toying with tethering. It is advertised by fido that you'll pay extra for it. And they'll know. Maybe the phone is still new and their system is getting updated for it. now my question is getting the im application built it follow the 5 dollar instand messaging or is it covered by the unlimited browsing

In terms of IM, im still trying the build in MSN, but i have tried the eBuddy on my cell and it works for sure for MSN, which is covered under the unlimited browsing option.

I believe streaming is now locked to internet . Wap seems to give error to connecting media servers
