Is there a "how to" somewhere that describes how to flash ESE53? Is it a simple upgrade (update.zip) like was leaked for 2.0.1 before the OTA was fully deployed? Do you need to root?Originally Posted by Humpa

That is Humpa's thread where he posted rooted Nandroid images of his stock ESE53 build and there is discussion of how to use SP recovery to load them.
There is also another thread about using the ESE53 SBF file but I would recommend the Nandroid method if you aren't familiar with flashing phones with RSD Lite.

There are different methods. Once you are rooted, I think the ROM Manager app is the easiest. You won't get the .03P radio/baseband version, but aside from that you'll get all ESE53 has.
I havent tried the rom manager yet and I'm not sure which forum has the best thread for info on that. But there are a few ese53 based rom's that you could flash too, and you could also try the cyanogenmod/koush rom, which is built from the AOSP and has the most options. The rom's will show up in the rom manager app - apparently it is pretty slick.

I have seen Touchdown, but I don't know if it would work in my situation...Originally Posted by wnrussell

I am using a program from Commontime called mNotes wireless, which acts a go between, running on my work computer, and it acts like the corporate exchange server. It works, but I was hoping that ESE53 would fix the issue with the "Partnership/Enterprise errors" that occasionally occur on the droid (Corporate Calendar).

Though, I am starting to wonder if the flash got hosed somehow. I noticed the second time I did it that while the build # changed, the baseband version stayed at .01P instead of .03P. I may try it again. The first time I did it, I got the new radio version.
Is this thread really the appropriate place to discuss non-official 2.1 ROMs? Don't get me wrong I think all of the alternative ROMs are cool and are raising the bar for the official update.
I just think their can and should be other threads for the alternatives.
OK, crank up your flamethrowers. I can take the heat.

No flames here, I completely agree.Originally Posted by jwd45244
Anyone know where to get the update.zip file for rooting (initially), I cannot find it and many of the sites that hosted it have exceeded their bandwidth.
Sorry for continuing this rooting issue. I know some are getting tired of it.

Not entirely sure what the forum policy is on posting a direct link to the file, but googling droid-root.zip still works. Then rename it update.zipOriginally Posted by YukonHiJack
Thanks, got it. Rooted my Droid. I will try and flash a new ROM on it later this week. Need it for work first![]()
