Rogers confirms Android 2.1 for Magic only?

According to Android & Me, Rogers will release a 1.5 Sense UI update soon, and a full 2.1 upgrade later in the year for HTC Magic users only... Dream users are stuck at 1.5.

Yes the HTC magic will be receiving 1.5 + Sense UI soon, which should help fix the timestamp bug. Then will later receive the 2.1 + Sense UI update!

I would say HTC did by making the Dream inferior hardware wise.

It was already iffy if 1.6 would work on the G1/Dream and eventually it did fit. With all the stuff in 2.1 I wouldn't be surprised if the hardware limitations were legit. I'm sure someone at XDA will cook up a nice ROM, so don't worry.

Yea I figured above 1.6 would be a no. But they could probably get us 1.6. Or add Sense to our 1.5. I'm confused by reading that article whether the Dream will be receiving Sense 1.5 or not. If we get Sense then that's all fine and dandy. But if not and we're stuck with the same old 1.5 we've always had, I'll be a little disappointed.

I remember the 1.6 update coming "by the end of October". Wake me up when 2.1 actually gets here.

Hopefully Rogers launched the Sony Ericsson Experia X10 with 2.x. It would be silly to launch it only with 1.6. Especially seeing it won't be a cheap phone.

This makes me happy. I just decided I would Root once I find a computer to use. An official Rogers OS update should really help the ROMs improve. I probably won't do the official update, just in case it makes my Magic unrootable.

Who needs 2.1 on the Dream... it's not like most of us are tied down to a 3 year contract or anything.

From now on, used hardware only, ever.

If they do 2.1 on the Magic, within days or hours it will be available on the Dream, via xda... :-)

With apps2sd and a bit of system tweaking I will put serious money on it being made to fit in the smaller memory footprint. The processors are basically the same so that is not an issue.
