Coming shorty, Fido will be launching the 8520 in Black. It will be part of the Q1 launch. No word on what date exactly, however the SKU has been loaded into the system.
We *may see some pricing changes as well for Q1 so stay tuned!
But the real question is... 2 or 3 year...
"If I said it, I said it for myself, not for any carrier or company for which I may work. Therefore, don't use it against me."
I can't imagine Rogers having one less year on it, it will take money away from their core brand. Won't know until it launches though.Originally Posted by JMPBass

8500 series is pretty decent. I, too, am surprised they didn't launch an 8300 series.. seeing as they went with the 8100 Pearl.
Overall, a good move for Fido. Curves are still one of the more popular Blackberries.
Current arsenal: iPhone 5 16GB / iPad 2 WIFI 16GB / Apple TV 2 / Slingbox Solo / Acer Aspire Z5610 touchscreen all-in-one / Acer Aspire netbook
Fallen soldiers: iPhone 4S 16GB / iPhone 4 16GB / iPhone 3G 8GB / BlackBerry Pearl 8100 / Motorola L6 SLVR / Nokia 5190, 3390, 8390, 3220 / Ericsson T18z / Mitsubishi G310 / Motorola C333 / Sony Ericsson T237
so this model is similar to the Bold's minus the 3g? I think that's what I read at one time. It's a great upgrade but I'm just wondering if it's missing anything else compared to a regular bold (9000/9700). Thanks.
This is what i don't like about Fido. The handful of people that will want to upgrade won't be able to, due to their ridiculous HUP policy, the handful that signed and sat idle with garbage phones until the launch of the iPhone benefitted.
Whatever, i will keep buying unlocked devices and hear on the phone each time "We cannot guarantee the support or function of this device on Fido... Bleh"
It really bugs you that they say that doesn't it?Originally Posted by mmagda

I used to have a print screen when i worked for Fido/Rogers, and it has grown exponentially since!![]()
wonder if UMA will work on fido verison....
iPhone 4 16GB & 32GB available; AVAILABLE WITH OLD FIRMWARE BNIB SEALED
iP 3GS in white also available;
apple 64GB iPad WIFI BNIB sealed..!! SOLD
Nice to see another device in terms of blackberry; however , the phone lacks 3g from my understanding. Also would be nice for them to allow the 6gb data plan to work with this rather than forcing a downgrade to a lower internet plan.Originally Posted by DiamondElite

At least they're getting a current BB device and getting rid of the 8100 from 4 years ago!
Never going to happen.Originally Posted by a in yul
Pearl isn't going anywhere, the red one possibily but the black one is the entry level data device. Rogers wants to push more data sales, so having the 8100, 8520, and iPhone is what they intend on offering. It covers more markets in terms of price.Originally Posted by ab0rt
