I don't have access to a landline right now so I don't want to call Bell and be put on hold and waste my minutes on my cell phone so I thought I'd inquire about it here first.
I have a Bold 9700 that's not recieving calls or sms', but I'm able to call and send. I'm being told that my incoming calls are going straight to my voicemail. Does anyone have experience with this and know what the issue or solution is?
[edit]: okay brain fart. forgot it was free of charge to dial *611 from phone![]()

Great customer service , have been with them for about 15 years and have 11 lines with them. Now I am pissed....
For everyone in here with these issues... indicate where you're located and the first 6 digits of your cell number...
Thanks...

Please Note: I do not work for Bell. I also do not work for any wireless retail outlet.
Do not ask me about promotions or offers from wireless providers.

Just off the phone with Bell, for your incoming calls to VM leave your phone on and remove the Battery, and then put it back, it worked for me. For your SMS issue you need to call customer service and have them check your plan there is a provision in their system that allows you to send/receive text messages, tell them to check and see that this was not doubled up, meaning there are two different text messaging plans on your account, this is what happened to me and as soon as he removed one of them in came all my text messages, two days worth. Good luck and let me know.
6 digits means anything? giving the number can be ported freely nowadays? appears is network issue, as i carry the same phone to North Carolina last week, and phone roam perfectly over ATT's 3G network, incoming outgoing trouble free. once back to Canada, i only got incoming text, no incoming calls (after 2 rings, goes to voice message).

So now I'm with my friend having lunch and we try one more time to see if I can receive anything. Nothing. So I looked at some of the apps I had installed recently and decided to just uninstall them 1 by 1. First to go was Mobile Minutes Tracker. VOILA!!!! After uninstalling and battery pull, I see a bunch of txt messages that I've missed over the past few days. I have my friend call me it came through.
So everything works fine (for now).
Yes and no.. If it's ported it doesn't help much, but others aren't port-ers... so their NPA-NXX can go right back to the Bell MSC...Originally Posted by oakville
I'm sure at least someone lurking here could probably do a lookup on the full phone number and tell you which switch you're hanging off of though...
If you just ported out and are having problems then there could be something wrong with the port - where it's incomplete or somehow partially snapped back...
Roaming is a whole different beast though - as once the system has marked your number for forwarding, the local network doesn't really do much with your call... It's all just bounced down to the "visiting" carrier...
But apparently for BoxCarRacer, an app installed on the BB was causing problems... that to me sounds like a typical issue with BB software. It's not hard to install a java app on a bb that'll make it go insane unfortunately...
I have an iPhone and I have the same problem sporadically. I have a ticket open with technical solutions. I'll let you know if anything becomes of it.
btw I'm in Richmond Hill, ON with a Toronto # 416-433-****
You're being serviced off of the same POI as myself and manny...Originally Posted by azanoncello
It almost sounds like these issues are unrelated... however everyone is starting with "It's a network problem" before they go in and actually look at what they've done to the phone... :-)
This sounds like it might be one of the iPhone bugs... I really hope the new version of the iPhone OS addresses some of these oddities... The Apple Support forum certainly has its share of postings about these kinds of things...
My unlocked Bold 9000 has been on Bell for about 10 days and it hasn't worked for 8 of them. I don't get incoming calls or text messages but e-mail and Blackberry messenger are fine. Outgoing calls and text messages work as well. I spent an hour and a half on the line with Bell only to be told they're having problems with the network so there's nothing they can do. That was last weekend and it's now Friday again.
Drewbie84 did you port-in to Bell or were you previously on the CDMA network?

I had identical problem with my BOLD 9700 and was fortunate enough to get someone at Bell that knew what he was talking about. For calls to voicemail issue, try taking the battery out while phone is on and then put back in and when phone boots up call yourself from a landline.
For incoming SMS(Texts) call customer service and have them check your plan to determine if there may be two text message options on it by error, if there is they need to remove one as it is conflicting with the right one and blocking receipt of incoming messages. Also leave yourself a voicemail and see if you get a prompt on your BB that you have a voicemail, if not I am certain that this is the issue and voicemail notification works on same sms system.
I had a ticket with technical support for more than two days and they did nothing for me, once I got to this C/S guy he fixed my SMS problem in two minutes and while I was on the phone with him in came all the SMS that I hadn't been receiving, he also told me about battery pull with phone ON while original C/S told me to turn the phone off before I pulled the battery. This got my incoming calls back. Good Luck
I've been on Bell for years on the CDMA network.Originally Posted by frankie5string
Yeah I read your post earlier and tried that but it didn't seem to work. Calls from a landline afterwards just went straight to the voicemail. I'll call in to see if there are two text message packages loaded on my plan but it was just setup last week so I'm not sure how that would have happened. Everything worked for a day or two until my data was added. Seemed like as soon as the data was working my incoming calls/sms wasn't. Thanks for the advice!Originally Posted by GABMAN
Sooo I called in and spent some time on the phone troubleshooting with a CSR and then she "transferred" me to technical support (aka hung up on me) so I called technical support and they got it figured out in about 15 minutes.
Apparently it was stuck on one tower. Everything's good now though, thanks for the tips guys.
