SO I've taken the first post, slightly modified it based on comments in this thread, added the E815 key presses and posted it on my pages... Took me long enough eh?

To get to it directly (for now) you can use -> http://www.v710.org/mark/HowToEmail.htm

HOWEVER, using that, you wont get the "frames" with nav links, etc for the rest of my pages.. Plus I'm re-doing somethings on my pages which might break that link...

SO Really the best way to get there.... use the link in my signature.. when you get to my pages, click on the How To's link on the left... One of the points is for -> How to put Ringtones and Pictures on your phone via Email.

    Please Keep all discussions here...

and if some V3C user would be so kind as to write up something for the steps/key presses for when the message gets to the phone like I already have for the V710 and E815... I'd really appreciate it (and of course when added to the page, you would be given credit)...

    Mark,

I will gladly right up a "how to for the Razor v3c" as you just requested, once I figure out how to d/l it I was finally successful in getting the tone to the phone.

I open the message, the tone played (message info shows the file is 18KB), then I went to options and it gives me the following:

    1. play again
    2. forward
    3. erase
    4. save picture
    5. save flix
    6. save sound
    7. save quick text
    8. add to contacts
    9. lock
    10. message info
    11. save vcard

Just not sure which to do, as your instructions are for the 815 and the options appear different. I don't see anything for storing?? And I don't want to mess anything up.

Once I figure this out, I will post step by step instructions for the v3c

Sorry, the initial post was written when I had my V710... two weeks ago, i got my E815... And I don't have a V3C... Verizon's RED UI on the V3C is different as you can see..

I would say your next step would be to "SAVE SOUND"

I have a V3c and a VX8100, both with VZW's "red" UI. Neither allow me the options you have above. My software version on the Razr is .03 and regardless of JPEG, GIF, MP3, etc, the attachments appear but I cannot save them.

Thumbs up got it to work on the Razor v3c

OK, I figured it out. THanks Mark, it was the SAVE SOUND. and a HUGE thank you to lets456, who put up with my PM's and emails during his busy work day yesterdy THANK YOU!!!

THESE ARE STEP BY STEP FOR THE RAZOR V3C WITH THE .03 S/W:
(Basically follow Mark Ventures directions in the first post of this thread)

    1. go into vzwpix.com and create an account (join up)

    2. I used the ringtones from Marks' website
    Code:
    http://www.v710.org/mark/
. On the left side click on ringtone.

    3. Then right click the song you want.
    - Select save target as
    - change the file name to something shorter and .MID
    - In Save as Type: make that ALL FILES
    - Hit save (this saves the ringtone to your computer)

    4. Now, I tried my email account with optonline.net and it DID NOT WORK. OUTLOOK also DOES NOT WORK. So I created a hotmail account.

    5. Go into your hotmail account:
    - TO: [email protected]
    - Leave the SUBJECT and TEXT areas BLANK
    - upload the ringtone as an attachment. In hotmail it asked me how to attach the attachment, as pix or file. I chose file
    - Hit send
    - after a minute or so, your cell will beep and receive the message.

This is where the instructions differ from Ventures: Since it is for the v3c
    6. Hit OK to view it now. when it opens, it should play the ringtone

    7. Hit options (right soft key)

    8. Scroll down and Save Sound (option #6)

    9. The name of the file comes up xxxx.MID

    10. Hit OK and the sound is SAVED

Hit end. Go to Menu, and select Tunes & Tones scroll down until you find the tone you just d/l. Hit Options again, and it will ask you: Set as Ringtone, click OK, and it again will ask you, Set xxxx as Ringtone. Click OK. and it will say, xxxx set as new ringtone.

Worked perfectly for me. Hope this helps out other's with the Razor v3c with the .03 s/w

any way to delete vzw ringtones already on 3vc???

Now if only there was a way to delete all the horrible ringtones that are in the razor 3vc, so I could give my husband a whole bunch of new good ones

    Any ideas?

would I need a cable? if so what.

    Would love some guidance,

    TIA

You're awesome thanks! I was sending to @vtext.com now wonder the attachments would show up but I couldn't save! Hopefully this @vzqpix.com doesn't cost me anything!

    Thanks!

    Jim

PS -- On my VX8100 I can't SET as a ring tone, though I can play it on my phone as you mentioned. Odd... anyway to move this stuff around?

    Jim,
Hope I caught you in time, but it's vzwpix.com (hope your's was just a typo ) but wanted you to know.

it only costs .25 cents, just like sending a picture message. Or at least that is what I have read, and have been told.

I wonder since my husband has unlimited IN pix/text messages, and 50 non IN, if they would be covered under that?

Hope it works for you. It's awsome, now my husband has cool ringtones, not the lousy ones vzw gives you on the phone.

Regarding your 8100, what are your options? when you click options? I'll try to help, but I don't have that phone. My husband has the 3vc and I have the (or will be getting it in 12 days) the nokia 6236i.

    Happy Easter everyone!!

    Joanne,

Thanks for all the help! Yea, I only sent one message so you caught me just in time regarding the cost!

    My options are as follows:

    [MY SOUNDS]
    1) Send
    2) To PIX Place
    3) Rename
    4) Move
    5) Lock
    6) Erase All
    7) Sound Info.

That's all I have on my VX8100 I guess I'll have to listen to them manually!

I don't understand Verizon's point in having all these sounds loaded if I can't use them as ringers.

    Any ideas let me know!

PS -- WORKS PERFECTLY ON THE V3C! Not sure why it doesn't on the LG!

    Happy Easter!

Could be a limit of the phone?? Like the Moto phones can PLAY .QCP files, but cant set .QCP files as ring tones... but other phones can...

Maybe the LG can play these, but not set as ring tones??

Maybe check in the Verizon/LG section??

    I'll have to do that.

    As an observation:

LG when Saving --> Does not show the file extension but plays the file OK.

Moto when Saving --> DOES show the file extension, plays fine and also can set as a ring tone.

Just wondering if anyone has figured out how to delete the ringtones on the Razor that Verizon put on the phone?

Can these be deleted to free up space for ringtones I like???

    TIA
