Hello everyone, this is my first post. It was mentioned earlier that Belldisabled the GPS. Is there any way to get it back?

This is a Bell Canada user issue. They have disabled numerous features from this phone (the built in GPS, for example) in order to force thier users to pay monthly fees to access the Bell Canada version.

This extends to Bell not supporting New PC Studio. You can connect as a mass storage device assuming you have a micro SD card, but cannot Sync Contacts, calendars etc with New PC Studio.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and drivers four times and attemped following guides on this and other web forums.

I told samsung my issue and the sent me a link to the software again with instructions. I had included links to three forums discussing this issue. Samsung obviously ignored what I wrote in my email as they responded by telling me to do what I had already done.

I contacted Samsung by phone and was told that Bell Does not support New PC Studio for exactly the reasons I suspected. They want to control the Hardware you paid for so that they can make more money. Samsung said I would need to contact Bell.

I spoke to 3 levels of support at Bell, it was painful. They could not figure out why it wouldn't work. After over an hour and being put on hold several times the third person I spoke to at Bell said that his supervisor told him it was not Bell Supports purpose to assist with this sort of issue. They said I should contact Samsung. .....So Samsung says to call Bell, Bell says to call Samsung.....FML.

(Also, I select "Software Update" on my phone and get a "Software failed to download." message. Bell had no answer for this)

any way to turn on those disabled features without giving bell more money? speaking of features, what was disabled from the US version (highlight i think)?

eh I tried to restore the DM settings, then I tried to download firmware, yes but it wouldnt install, now Ive got _T_MO_ meaning T-Mobile under my Bell-Internet and Bell-MMS, and Ive got no idea how useful that thing will be but so far, and it is called the highlight, I ordered the invisibleSHIELD under Samsung Highlight and yeah thats the US version, the US version comes in terrible colours though, I love the Grey, black, with Silver buttons thing its got going on. oh and a deeper look into the internals Menu shows the provider as T-Mobile, so Im pretty sure THAT answers your T-Mobile question LOL, I heard there was a Software UPdate for the Impact OTA (OVer the Air) from a Techinical Solutions Represenative, lets see how long that'll take

Yeah go into the Bell section and look for a thread labelled, Any Opions on the samsung Impact? and go to page 5, Scroll down until you see Bolded Writing, those the the EXACT steps to get Google Maps working with GPS, you can use AmazeGPS but you have to pay after the 14 day trial of AmazeGPS, Just stick to google maps with GPS, easy, works well, fast, and the way it works with the phone part of the impact makes it seem like a Native app for it

New PC Studio allows to back up contacts, manage media (songs/vids/pics), and upload wallpapers.
It's actually a pretty decent phone, the only problem I'm having is that my Messaging icon won't go away, even though I have no unread messages. Has this happened to anyone else?

This is what I get...."No response from the device because it is in the initializing stage
after booting. Try again after the initialization completes". Pc studio recognizes the phone in usb mode but can't go any futher.....any ideas

toooo sad whole week.
I got T746 this week,and spend whole week to connect to PC , even go to Bell store, call samsung and bell, got all *****.
I read all instructions, but why my PC can't see my T746, I download New PC Studio, not work, try to update driver in device manager, my PC always says unknown device.
Please help

I did listed below:
1. download new PC studio and installed it
2. connected PC to mobile T746
3. opened device manager, find unknown device
4. update two ways: one for specified path, one for don't search
5. then still unknown device

Hi there,

I got my PC Studio to see my Impact, but now it is saying that "

"SAMSUNG MOBIL MODEM

The device cannot be opened because another program is currently using it. Cloe the program to connect to the device. Move to search new device."

Anyone know what program or setting is the issue here?

Plug your phone in into the computer via usb

Go to your device manager, right click on the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers"

Choose to "scan for hardware changes"

This should cause you to see in the USB items one or more called "USB Composite Device"

right click on it, click properties, go to details. Do this to all the USB composite Devices until you see one that says "USB\VID_04 [ETC]

Once you have found the one with the "4" in it, then click on the driver tab.

click update drive,

Choose No, not this time and then click next

Choose to install from a list

then Choose Don't Seachm I will choose driver to install

This is when you should see the USB composite Device
