Can I buy a Rogers stick and use a Telus Sim??

I want to upgrade to a new stick but dont want a contract. If I buy outright Telus and others have outrageous rates for the sticks ($199? can't remember). I can find used ROgers sticks and even new for $100 and much less.

Do these cards take Sim chips? If so can I just buy a Telus sim and plug it into a Rogers stick?

    There are 2 "3G" networks.

EVDO (CDMA variant which is the older phones)

HSPA (SIM card variant) which is what your iPhone is on. Some people are referring to it as 3G+ due to the fact that they launched HSPA+ which is faster than the basic version.

It will need to support HSPA 1900 MHz and unlocked from the other carrier of course.

    Folks,

    Get the facts straight...

    1. TELUS' 3G+ network is in both UMTS Band II (1900) and V (850) band, though data traffic are "preferred" in the Band V (850) and the Band II (1900) footprint is primarily available in major urban centres.

    2. Carriers like Rogers/Fido and at&t are deploying their 3G networks in the same Cellular and PCS spectrum like TELUS/Bell. Just NOT those carriers like Wind and T-Mobile USA using the AWS spectrum.

    3. Sierra Wireless AirCard USB 306 operates in the UMTS Band I (2100), II (1900) and V (850). So it is compatible with TELUS' 3G+ network - provided it is UNLOCKED.

    4. Sierra Wireless has NOT suggested the AirCard USB 306 will support the E-UTRAN based 4G LTE.
