5 gig data plans, why don't they offer a 10 gig plan?

they are reluctant to go unlimited, but why don't they offer a 10 gig data plan for something not too outrageous? I'm sure many of the people that are upset now at the 5 gig limit and price might be placated by a 10 gigs for $95 deal or something like that

I am so reluctant to sign a contract with Telus now when 5 gigs is the most they offer, I feel like waiting for Wind or anyone else is my best option right now

I'd wait till the summer. They usually offer pretty good plans with new iPhones.

Using Sling Media or Orb for streaming TV and using various programs for streaming Internet Radio, plus VOIP and file sharing, more than 5GB is needed.

With the increased network speeds, unlimited and 10GB is the norm these days from carriers outside of Canada. We should start to see 50GB+ limits from European and Asian networks once LTE comes out within a year or two.

It's not like they don't offer you the opportunity to use up to 10GB.

On the 5GB plan with $51.20/GB you go over with a 10GB overage limit on the current plans it will simply cost you $341 + tax.

On the expired Connect Unlimited $75 that would cost you $81.95 + tax
On the expired Telus Wireless connect 33 5GB plan that would cost $89.95 + tax
On the expired Connect Unlimited 100 that would cost you $106.95 + tax
On the expired Connect 65 plan (1GB with $10/GB overage) that would cost $161.95 + tax
On the grandfathered Connect 65 plan (1GB with $30/GB overage) that would cost $341.95 + tax
So right around the time when they increased the overusage rates from $10/GB to $51.20/GB it became very expensive again.

We think everyone should be able to afford a wireless phone. That's why we were the first wireless company in North America to offer pay-by-the-second airtime, and why we don't charge an activation fee. NO scary contract to sign. Immediate national coverage. And a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Yes, it's finally time to get a wireless phone.

nice break down of the data rate history, its too bad telus is on a greedy streak right now, hopefully in the future prices will come back down to a reasonable rate.
