Go to South Korea and grab one

The RAZR 3, once cancelled, then uncanned and announced as the VE1, finally released as the KLASSIC Good luck having that thing working on Verizon or any other CDMA carrier in the world.

But surely looks nice, despite all the Engadget bashing.

I miss when the RAZR was the most popular. Now it's all about Touch Screens, apps and such. I like the touch screen phones, but I don't need something that advanced.

The RAZR really was a ground breaker. And they are tougher than people say..I have seen horror videos on Youtube of people crushing, burning, throwing and snapping their RAZR's because they "hate" them..

I agree that some people just don't need a smart phone. I had a BlackBerry for the past two years and I really don't miss much about it. I like that my Motorola goes days without a charge and fits in my pocket. I'll buy a netbook for the other stuff.

I still see lots of people with RAZRs. Including my parents and me. We all have RAZRs.

So are there different shades of silver V3m's? Because my dad's is a light silver, while mine is darker.

    V3c VRZ firmware missing

My RAZR went through a lot with me. I introduced the world of SMS texting and Bluetooth headsets and Bluetooth file transfers. Prior to that, my cell phone world was monochrome (if you even call it that) and I could only receive txts, can't send on my old fone.

I hacked the crap out of the V3c and it took every hack with pride. I modified the logo on the outer LCD and made numerous changes to unlock the options my provider locked from me.

I took tons of pictures with that dinky 1.3MP camera. Some videos too and uploaded a bunch to facebook. I put a body skin on it from bestskinsever.com that is just starting to peel... and i put the phone in my pocket and played with my dog in the snow.

one time i tackled my dog in the snow and the phone didn't like it too much but it still kept on working despite a purple line running done the middle right of the screen, kinda like a racing stripe. that was over 1 yr ago and the phone still works!

well it's been almost 4 years since I had the v3c. here's to hoping the milestone will last just as long. but i have a feeling it won't.
So, I need to reflash my RAZR to its original Verizon firmware out-of-the-box state. BUT. All the links known to get it are just not working.. like the well known Humpa (http://humpa.com/vzw), turboaupload, rapidshare, etc. ...amazing!
Do any of you guys know of a new link for the download of this firmware?
    thanks

I miss the days of the RAZR as well. I had the original V3 from October 2004-December 2005, which I upgraded to a non-iTunes V3i and kept from Dec 05 to September 2008.

After spending a few weeks with a MPx220 (which I later found out was actually an HTC phone badged as Motorola), I became bored with it and exchanged it during the 30-day window for a V3. I loved the form-factor and the ability to answer and hang up calls by flipping the phone open and closed (as opposed to pushing buttons/softkeys/touch screens as all phones are today). Since then I've dealt with countless V3's over about 3 years, including something I haven't seen in years, a black V3 (which I unfortunately no longer have). I still own the original silver V3 (with laser-etched Cingular battery cover) and the V3i (also a rarity in a sapphire blue, which is my backup phone with a GoPhone SIM)

There are so many great things about the RAZR, but above all I miss the small size. I could fit a RAZR in skinny pockets of backpacks or just about any car cup holder. Today's tall and wide phones (in order to accommodate QWERTY keyboards and touch screens) are actually hard to fit in my own pants pockets. I couldn't imagine carrying around an HD2, though it is a great phone.

Eventually my data needs exceeded those that GPRS could provide, and it seemed redundant to buy a UMTS-capable V3 that had the same form-factor as every phone I've owned since 2005. With no announced plans to continue the RAZR line past 2008 I abandoned it for the Q9h Silver that I'm still using. Ironically enough, Motorola scaled back their entire phone lineup and killed the Q series as well. I can't wait to see the next style that replaces the iPhone style that everyone is copying right now. It's depressing to walk into a store and see 4 models of phones by different manufacturers that look almost identical. Regardless of what happens, the RAZR will always live on as the first phone that challenged and changed the wireless industry's design standards and opened the door to high-end stylish, but functional (for their time) phones.

I love the RAZR. I have the T-Mobile gray V3 and the AT&t blue GoPhone V3.
The T-Mobile V3 I've retired because I started to get Insert SIM messages after I had replaced the SIM card and then started to get Call Failed messages. I think I wore it out. I replaced it with a Nokia 3711. The Nokia is 3G and allows the $5.99 internet work well- that battery life is nothing like the V3; I'm prepared to recgharge at the end of the day.
I plan to pick up a few more V3s T-mobile and ATT to have as spares.
I concur as to the easy of carrying the RAZRs I carried both in my pants pocket with my cash as buffer between them.

    Bring an updated RAZR back!

Those V3 series accessories in and of itself, especially the OEM batteries in assorted sizes (capacities), home/travel & mobile chargers, and mini usb cables, are another legacy in and of itself - I and probably most of you have got lots of them around, and it's great for the newer generation of Moto's & smartphones in our "current" collection series - including the newest HTC's (which, for the most part, amazingly, worked perefectly & without those "unauthorized chargers" messages.

This reminds me that my silver V3m from VZW in near mint conditon is still somewhere in my phone "museum" section of the storage room down in the basement ....

I just got a Razr V3, but not sure how to tell the version. Inside there are a ton of numbers, and one of them is V3 (G 8/9/18/19) Does that mean anything? I like it so far, the volume is good both on the ringer and speaker, and it just feels good to use.

The screen (inside) is kinda scuffed up though, but I think I found one cheap (original, OEM according to the seller) on ebaY. The ad said to just pry out the old one and put in the new one.

My question: has anyone done this? Any hints or tips?

That is identifying the radio in the phone. The RAZR V3 is a quad-band GSM phone, supporting (8)50, (9)00, (18)00, and (19)00 MHz bands. 850 and 1900 are used in North America, while 900 and 1800 are used in Europe.
