BVA0029 (at Broadway and Oak) was turned on yesterday. It messed with data in the area quite a bit yesterday...but should provide good coverage for the broadway corridor in the area.

Does anyone know if SBA is the only company that is building towers for Wind? I'm wondering because I saw a new site that isn't appearing on map.sbasite.com. And there have been no new constructions in Winnipeg for quite a while.

    Thanks

I think they use SBA for more permanent tower installations but Huawei for antenna installations and towers under 20m.

They do different things, no? I thought SBA built and maintained sites, and Huawei installed equipment.

Either way, I don't think SBA was ever the exclusive builder of Wind sites, just a big one.

Thanks for clarifying. Hopefully this means that they are actually building faster.

Huawei does offer those services as well you know.

I figure SBA Sites are being used for major towers and to replace antennas lower than 20m.
I also can go on to say that this is because Huawei offers the speed that WIND needs, but SBA has the quality tower (that can be upgraded) for a better price.

Huawei considers wind a major agreement and lists them with Bell, Telus, and SaskTel on their website.
I know not much about the sba sites agreement other than most of the towers seem to look the same- tall and bulky. Therefore meaning that they do not manage all towers. Just the quality ones.

Around Nilestown it's around 0-2 bars. You might get a signal in Dorchester if you're lucky.

    A small correction:

This loxcel map shows carrier microwave data:

    http://loxcel.com/tafl

Select a carrier with the "MW" (MicroWave) suffix from the drop-down list. Eg. "Wind MW".

I kept the microwave (aka "backhaul") data separate from the cell tower map, as microwave towers are not cell towers and things get complicated quickly.

To shed a bit of light on these complications, I've composed this simple introduction to cellular microwave backhauls:

    Thanks

Industry Canada clearly either doesn't care or are too incompetent to notice.
I can only relay my many experiences with Industry Canada (IC) over the past two years, as I refined and improved on the quality of my Loxcel cell tower map.

I found IC to be formal, but courteous and detailed. I also found them to be timely (remember, they have more than just us to service).

Consider last fall's incident with Mobilicity towers "floating" in Lake Ontario and the waters off Vancouver. A member of this forum opened a channel with IC, and kindly passed it to me. I then supplied IC with more details so they could diagnose and identify a solution. A few weeks later, IC fixed the problem.

Interesting. If I look at Wind towers I seem to be able to select individual locations but if I select Mobilicity MW, I get 3 things showing per tower (with no option to select individual... they stay as a cluster even when I zoom in). Any idea why Mobilicity data shows up this way?

I am noticing the same thing on Wind MW sites out here in the Vancouver region. No matter how close-in one zooms, the numbered dots do not expand and allow one to see the path data.

That's a limitation of the underlying clustering engine. It's on the list of things to fix. For now, please use the TAFL map as a only guide to how many MW towers are there. Sorry for this.

And sorry about the dup messages last night. I tried to delete them, but it didn't seem to work.
