humm what if we don't have a data plan that includes tethering? will this show us as tethering?

Are you sure? I'm fairly certain on the CDMA network Bell charged extra for tethering, and if they don't already they likely will in the future. Most US carriers doe and Rogers is likely moving to charge for tethering on May 3rd.
