My parents and brother are out of contract on their current (expensive) plan and I'm suggesting they move to T-Mobile. In order to maximize their savings, I want to put them on an Even More Plus plan. If they go for unlimited minutes, they can even cancel their land line, which essentially balances out what they're paying for home phone service.
Anyway, I just need suggestions for which phones to go for. They have very basic needs - none of them use text messages at all, nor do they want or need internet access. Just lots of airtime minutes. Simple, reliable phones with good batteries, good reception, and good voice quality are all they need. Where should I start? There are so many cheap, basic GSM phones out there that I can't figure out where to start.
All I can say is that they're all currently using Samsung SCH-u340s on Verizon, so perhaps more Samsungs would be good so they don't have to adjust to a new interface. Flip or slider phones might be good so they don't have to worry about locking the keypad, but I'm really just looking for a starting point. Thanks!
Newer phones:SE Equinox TM717 or Nokia 3711
Older phones: SE TM506, Nokia 6233, or Samsung Katalyst (having UMA helps a lot)
Getting a Samsung doesn't help much since Verizon has its own UI on all Verizon dumb-phones. T-Mobile Samsung phones wouldn't have the same look.
