Jailbreak Matrix (Jailbreak or unlock anything after 2.x)

Ok been doing so many phones and touches for everyone, i put together a Jailbreaking Matrix this should help everyone locate what they need for whatever version of iTouch or iPhone you have.

Basically its an all in one page where you can find a guide and firmware file on howto unlock and jailbreak any iPhone or iTouch from firmware 2.x to 3.1.3

I cant post the 100+ links in here for the firmware and guides so i will post the link to the site.

You might have to recheck the 3GS portion. There is no unlock for 5.12.01. Ultrasn0w only worked on 4.26.08. For 5.11.07, you have to use Blacksn0w.

The jailbreak isn't right either. I think it was redsn0w for 3.0 and then it was pwnagetool or snowbreeze for 3.1, 3.1.2 and 3.1.3.

Geohot had BlackRa1n also. I don't remember what Geohot's jailbreak was because I never used his version.

Nice page ya put together there... I'm sure it will be damn helpful for a bunch of people. Might want to move it to the 'Hacking and Unlocking' section though...

    1. Yea if you read the guide it only talks about the unlock if you preserved your baseband

    2. thanks i updated to my previous redsn0w guide

    3. geohot is running blackra1n rc3 which runs on windows and mac and supports 3.1 3.1.2

It's a nice guide but I'm with HPLouis... it's deceiving.

For 3.1.3, you wrote the modem firmware as 05.12.01 and typed that you can unlock it.
    You CAN NOT unlock 05.12.01.

You should either put an asterisk next to 05.12.01 that says you had to have preserved your baseband, or just write that you can't unlock it.

Frankly, I don't think the target audience of your guide will understand preserving the baseband. They'll just want to know if they can jailbreak/unlock based on the info of their settings page.

Great idea and nice looking guide though.

nice looking but it's wrong and confusing for the latest firmware.

you have 3.1.3, 5.12 and yes to unlock... wrong. You also have yes to jaibreak for that... mostly wrong. 3gs needs to split to 2 categories one for old iboot and new.
Soon, maybe now even, you won't be able to edit the first post and so it won't update.

also it's not just sn0w. it's blacksn0w. If someone searches sn0w they will be screwed.

also it makes it look like only sn0wbreeze can be used for jailbreaking a 3g on 3.1.3 when that's wrong. pwnage tool and redsn0w can be used.

This needs a major overhaul and I'd suggest deleting the image in the first post since you can't update that.

I can always upload and overwrite the first image on my host...

I might remove the baseband or split to seperate boot loaders on the 3gs and 3g

I will update the snow to blacksnow it's named snow in blackrain so I kept it as that but will update when I get home

loving the quick feedback keep it coming I will adjust on the fly

    the easiest would be

    baseband = 5.12, No Unlock
    baseband < or = 5.11 Unlock

    iphone 2g, 3g
    firmware < or = 3.1.3, Jailbeakable

    iphone 3gs old bootrom
firmware = 3.1.3, jailbreakable using sn0wbreeze or pwnage IF upgrading from jailbroken 3.1.2

    iphone 3gs new bootrom
    firmware = 3.1.3, Not jailbreakable

    All iphone 3GS
    firmware < or = 3.1.2, jailbroken*

*new bootrom iphones will only have tethered jailbreak.

I think this is a great idea and the guys here dcan help you tweak it (guys much more knowledgeable then me).

You have to tailor this to the most non-technical people that will be doing Google searches or ending up here looking to unlock their brand new 3Gs' that they just bought off of eBay with 3.13 and 5.12. Thos phones cannot be unlocked but they will read this and think they can. (Can a brand new 3Gs even be jailbroken right now? I don't think so but I'm not sure).

Yeah, this will be nice once completed. I wish I had something like this when I started my jailbraking and unlocking adventures.
