REPOST/Switch: To Make or Not To Make, THAT is the question.

I posted this in the wrong section and was summarily dismissed. I re-posting this here in the hopes that someone could chime in. Yes, georg

I thought I'd come here for some expert advice on making a switch to Boost. I welcome any advice or comments.

I want to switch a two-person family to Boost from AT&T (I'm in the South) and am looking into one of those dealers who flashes a Sprint phone (Touch Pro) to Boost prior to your purchase, making it all ready to go before you receive it. My question is are there a lot of dealer doing this or is it really a niche thing? While I know I could do it myself and save some money, I really prefer to "hit the ground running," so to speak. If there are options other than just this one, I'd like to explore them.

I am also concerned with moving from a full-service provider to a pre-paid service like this and losing out on reliability, some basic customer service and maybe stability. Will I miss anything with a switch to Boost CDMA from AT&T? Has anyone made this switch and been using a higher-end smartphone with Boost CDMA without too much trouble? I am paying an ungodly sum of money for what appears, at first blush, to be service that is a BETTER VALUE than what I have now; unlimited talk, text and web for $50 times two is better than the $208 a month I pay now. I am willing to terminate my contract and get new phones to slash my bill in half. It'll take a little while to recoup my costs but I'm patient.

What does everyone think? Has anyone been faced with this choice? I am really torn about what would be my best bet.

Georgepa, thanks for your input! That really helped me. I am looking into the difficulty of doing the switch myself but with the tracking down of phones and such, I'm still wondering if it wouldn't be easier getting it all done as quickly as possible with a single source. There is something to be said for that convenience. Although, I've never been the type to pay more at the gas station for an item i forgot to get at a grocery store so . . . .
