Here's how I got ring tones on the lg220c

I don't know if this will work for any other models or not. I've looked around the internet and can't find anyone explaining how to do this so thought I'd post here.

The lg220c uses midi (simple sounds) and Purevoice (qcp) for voice and real music, and is also the format the lg220c records in when you record voice.

midi files can be found almost anywhere just use any search engine. One I've had some good luck with is http://www.midisite.co.uk/ you can download ringtones straight from the lg220c's browser. Also if you have midi files on your computer this site will help you get them to your phone http://wapupload.filetac.com/

I have been having trouble finding a place that has qcp files though. The only site I have had any luck with is http://mobilereelz.com/ you upload an mp3 go to there wap site, and pick qcp as your format, and Verizon as your carrier, then save it.

Some notes on getting qcp files to your phone. filetac doesnt work with qcp files you get an unsupported file error, sending them to a hotmail account the attachment link doesn't show up in the browser, sending them to a yahoo account gets an error saying yahoo can't display the file, you then have the option to view or download, both say file type unsupported.

There also seems to be a maximum size for files you download. I'm not sure the exact size, biggest file I have is 61 kb, a file I tried to get that was 76.5 kb gets this message "Error: Cannot save object size exceeds max cache configured"

If anyone knows a better way to send qcp ringtones to your phone I'd like to know, you cannot send ringtones as a text, and I've heard bluetooth can't send ringtones to this model phone either.

I've seen on a few places on the web and can confirm myself that (Your Phone Number)@mypixmessages.com is not received by the lg220c on straight talk, (Your Phone Number)@vtext.com does go trough and gets received as a text, but the ring tone is not received in the message, only the text. I guess since the phones doesn't have a camera they disabled all mms

small update here as I get some more stuff figured out

Pics on the lg220c can be transferred with http://wapupload.filetac.com/ not sure what all formats and sizes work useing that site, but at least the 128X160 .bmp files that are like the default wallpapers work, .jpg files I have went to myspace and saved from there to have pics for the picture ringer

midi and qcp ringtones can be transfered also trough this site http://www.davidpye.com/index.php?page=freewap (some reason sending .bmp from this site gets an unsuported error)

just save the midis off the net on yor comp upload and send them, or just find them with your phones browser

I've found how to make a qcp file from a wav or mp3

    go here http://www.qctconnect.com/products/p...downloads.html
    download v2.4.0 for Windows 2000/XP/Vista

qcp files are low quality but I go into properties and set the codec to purevoice superior quality, and rate to fixed full rate, hoping that gives it a slightly better sound.

then just upload it to http://www.davidpye.com/index.php?page=freewap and send the link they give to to your phone in a text (i send it in windows live because i usually have it open) and go and download it

still no luck with mp3 or wav on the phone, didn't think it supported them but was worth a try.

heres another qcp upload site http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/index.php either upload your own or click gallery then sound clips for some qcp files

    Thanks Turtle! Great links!

I used http://mobilereelz.com/ to change from .mp3 to .qcp and then got it on the phone via http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/upload.php.

Next thing on my list is to get a data cable and see if I can mod this thing at all.
It'd be nice to delete the stock tones & papers and maybe change the red&white LG startup .gif

    Talking easy fix

BEFORE THE GOOD STUFF: This is absolutely free, I was looking for a free way myself and this is what I figured out. This method is for the lg220c phone that I got with the Straight Talk service thing from Wal-mart. I got the $45 unlimited plan but it will work on any plan that has web service (which I think is all of them). ^_^

A lot of people have asked this and since I haven't found a correct answer, I've figured it out on my own and would like to share it with you, since it was a pain in my butt. Ventones.com and similar methods HAVE NOT worked for me so I am just going to tell you how I did it.

    1. take any mp3 or similar file and convert it to ".qcp" since .mid or "midi" files are semi-impossible to make from another audio file (very technical, don't worry about it).
NOTE: you will have to make it under ~70KB as well (not sure exact size but that's about right) To do this you will have to take your shiny mp3 to any site that will convert it for you, I use http://www.myxer.com and http://www.makeownringtone.com
For myxer: myxer.com > ringtones(its a tab with drop down list) > "make your own..." > edit it to be ABOUT 30 seconds of your favorite song or w/e, feel free to experiment with length and file size > and from there you can save to your comp.

    2. take the new .qcp file and go to http://www.davidpye.com/index.php?page=freewap SCROLL DOWN TO BOTTOM OF PAGE and youll see where you can upload it to their free site.

    3. It'll tell you to navigate to a certain URL in your phones browser and download it from on your phone. Do so.

    4. After a successful download you should have your new audio file and it should be in your "my audio" section. Enjoy and spread the word!

Well, I'm confused because when I try to get onto the site for the image thing, it keeps saying connection was reset. I also can't seem to be able to send the midis either.
