hello, a bit new here... i recently just got a 705p and i heard it can be used to send 160-character SMS, but when i was about to send one, i was surprised to see that it can only be able to send 70. i asked others who have it and said they were able to send 160-character SMS... thanks in advance...

not sure where to switch from UCS2 to GSM 7bit on Panas but here's where to change it in my 934SH:

    Messaging>Settings>SMS Settings>Char-code>change to GSM7bit

I think Japanese input wont work in this mode- keep that in mind.

    and next time:

Yes, SoftBank phones are all artificially limited to sending single SMS only. They can receive long, concatenated SMS, but they can't compose/send them. This is due to a SoftBank policy/pricing thing, as well as the prevalence of email messaging between mobile phones in Japan.

The SoftBank Sharps are capable of switching to GSM 7-bit encoding for 160 characters, but as indicated, the 705P isn't, so you are stuck with this restriction...
