Not to jack the thread, but..are there any good alternatives to the Cellebrite devices? I tried out a software product from Susteen but didn't like it at all.
There isn't much of a need for it anymore, customers have an a iphone, google, or backup assistant enabled phone for their contacts. People ask to transfer their contacts out of habit more than anything else.
I have noticed that Backup Assistant doesn't work on most of the older phones (> 2 or 3 years) -- I recall reading that the apps don't download because of a problem with the security certificate and they need to be reflashed?
This sounds like it was before my time, I was never trained on it and, as an indirect, I do not have the ability to flash phones (that I know of). I still feel like I use the cellebrite very often and don't think I would be able to operate without it. (without angry customers!).
Transferring is the most time consuming part of the sale (especially on new smart phones when customer has 100 apps that they want to save data from i.e. angry birds)-- and I'm such a nice guy I do it as a courtesy. If they bought phone online I charge and tell them this would be free if they bought the phone from me!
It appears this thread is very old but.... once the cellebrite expire now they will not update. An update KEY is provided after you pay the $200 renewal fee. Now here's the thing...since cellebrites are not necessarily hooked into ethernet (the key can be entered manually) This means that the keys that cellebrite provides are merely the product of some key generating algorithm that will work with your specific serial / device ID. Now I'm not a computer hacker, but I'm sure if enough serial / device ID / legit renewal key combinations were given to the right person.. they would be able to reverse engineer a software program that can calculate and spit out working renewal keys. Yes I have thought about this thoroughly as I have many cellebrite machines
On a different topic. Has anyone else been having terrible issues with newer phones? Cosmos2 is impossible to transfer pictures to. Had some issues with Ravine 2 as well. Any tips from anyone?
