Can I port a recently expired Tracfone back to Tracfone ? ?
Like the title says....I goofed and let the phone run out of days. My service days expired 2 days ago. I have about 400 minutes left.
Here's the problem...a few weeks ago I requested a new sim for this phone (only to add to my collection). The tracfone website knows of this and will not let me add an airtime card to this phone without putting in the new sim. Of course, the new sim is a t5 (t=mobile) and I currently have and want to keep the c4 (att). I fear all of this will cause me to loose my number .
The customer service people say I have already lost my # because I let the phone expire. In the old days you could keep your number for about 30 days, but this may have changed.
My main goal is to save my phone # and the second goal is to use my paid for 400 minutes. I have several unopened tracfones and net10 phones with att sims.
Any suggestions !!! ?? Thanks. here's a beer for all your help in advance

If you have at&t, your number should still be there for a while. You should call 1-800-876-5753 on Monday. They might be able to reactivate the old sim. You can use a sim from a new phone if you have to. But if you want to activate that new phone in the future, you will have to formally order a new sim for it. It will be expecting the sim that it came with, and will refuse to activate until that association is broken by ordering a new sim.
During the activation process if they do not ask you to enter the SIM S/N then it has a SIM S/N already associated with your phone and that SIM must be in your phone when you continue or you will ruin both SIM cards (the one you have in the phone and the one they think is in the phone).
Did you try putting in the sim number from the old sim?
You can port that number anywhere you want to, another Tracfone or another company. Even if you have lost it for sure, did you know you may even be able to port that number to a phone even if it has been reasigned to someone else.
I have a tutorial for porting numbers from expired phones.HERE

Lisme & Tracfancier,
If he uses a sim from one of his new phones, the system will know that sim number has been used. So at the point where he wants to activate the other new phone the system will cross the sim that shipped with the phone and see that it is not available anymore. At that point the system should automatically prompt for a sim number when the attempt is made to activate the phone.
That is good news and certainly simplifies things. Thanks for helping everybody so much.
I have heard of people hijacking someone else's Google Voice number.
Yea, since there is no actual "account information" with these prepaid companies, all someone needs is your cell number and they can port it off to another phone just to tick you off. And we know that Tracfone will likely tell you that the number is gone for good and you will have to get another one.
I saw Tracfone's 30 minute infomercial last night for the first time. I like the disclaimer on the screen that says "tracfone may not be able to save all marriages", when the guy spoke of how it probably saved his.
Haha. Well, if TF is going to have cool infomercials, they'd better get some cool phones, or else the cool nightowl viewers are going to laugh at more than just the lame humor.
I just remembered my tracfone was due yesterday, son of a ^&%$
I can't believe how stupid I feel, this was my number I gave to coworkers (so they didn't bug me on my "real" phone) and also to anyone else (businesses who might bug me).
It's an old Nokia 2285, any chance the number can be ported to a new phone (whatever is $10) and then ported back to the 2285? I only had about 200 minutes on it but I like the old phone because I set who can ring me, not just lock out who can't.

Relax. Go online and reactivate the phone. You will need to buy more airtime, but the phone will reactivate with the same number, and all your old minutes. There should be nothing to worry about.

Happy Easter!
It's not letting me buy airtime online (IE or firefox) so I'll have to try getting a card and see what happens.
The popup did say there was a chance I'd loose the number, I always assume I'd get shafted by TF that way I'd not be surprised
