I am using Lockbot now. Wakes phone using the trackball, and it gives you a choice of four different lock screens for your slide to unlock screen. I will recommend this app. You can get a serious laugh at the choices.

Im thinking about purchasing this phone and researching it but I am pretty sure I read in a thread somewhere that the trackball can be set to wake the phone up in the settings menu, it just isnt enabled by default. Hate to post on hardware I dont have but thought it might be helpful.

What was the problem? Did they replace it or repair it?

Problem was the power button stopped working all together so I couldn't turn the phone off and the phone would lock. Only way I could unlock it, if someone called.

Repaired. I could of had it replaced, but I would of had to go to the US and ship it from my dads friends address (seeing the phone was shipped to VT)

At least with the repair, I could ship it within Canada. I think after that they shipped it to HK for the repair :/

    The problem is back lol
I hope for the next update they make the trackball useful for wake up, instead of me having to constantly use the power button.

Bye bye Nexus One, hello iPhone 4

This is the first I've heard of the power button failing on the N1.

You have to understand that out of hundreds of thousands of N1s being sold or perhaps millions this 1 post does not reflect on all N1s.

All products have defective units and this clearly shows that the OPs N1 was defective.

I thought you used the Lockbot. I got my N1 running longer than yours, with Lockbot of course, and I still have no problem on my barely pressed power button, thanks to Lockbot.

    Wasn't a fan of it.

I'll try it out again, but I still need to send my phone back anyways to get the power button repaired. HTC going to hate me lol

Let HTC hate you. That's a cheap power button that somewhere in China they build gazillions anyway for all phones for a few cents. As a matter of fact this power button seems identical in the way it feels with the one used on the iPhone and iPod Touch. The Chinese lady on crappy wages that will change the buttons isn't going to know you, see you, or remember you. At the end of the hour, its just another job done.

I will use Lockbot if I were you, if not other screen lockers. If you don't like it, a good compromise is the Alarm Clock that comes with the phone, which also lets you use the volume switches to wake the phone.
