My Rogers contract ends in a couple of months, so I'm wondering if I should switch to Wind. Has their coverage north of 16th Ave. gotten any better yet?
I would keep watching the coverage maps and these forums but I don't expect coverage to be great yet and it is still not 'officially' in their coverage area. Luckily you have a couple months to wait still, let's hope for the best. Keep us posted, thanks.
I was hoping their coverage map was outdated. Booo...
It is probably slightly outdated. I am anxiously waiting for the next industry canada update as that generally gives you an idea what direction their towers are headed and is a good pretext to future coverage. WIND isn't likely to update their maps until they can ensure good coverage in those areas. They have gotten enough flak over their coverage I think it wise to be err on the side of caution while expanding now.
I for one am impressed by their coverage, I think they are off to a great start and hope to join soon...until then I will enjoy watching their coverage expand and hearing from all of you about your experience with WIND.
Not entirely true. At Buttonville airport it works great. I was also up as far as Woodbine & Major Mac and it was still going strong.
These are the types of gray areas that you are likely to experience mixed coverage results until they 'officially' expand into it. Glad to hear you were getting a signal. Woodbine and Major Mackenzie are just barely outside the coverage area now.

I drove from Leslie and 16th down to 9th line and 16th. Coverage is spotty, with some strong points, but not many. This was 2 - 3 weeks ago with an N1.
Actually reception is great along woodbine up to majormac. However it's not that great east of leslie/majormac, spotty in some cases. It is also very spotty along elgin mills from yonge to woodbine
I am at 7 and McCowan, and the signal is up and down like a roller coaster. Even just loading this page to respond, I lost signal thrice. It will probably take a couple tries to post this.
I was visiting relatives on Friday around 9th Line/14th Ave.and had no problems making calls. I had full 5 bars on my BB 9700. Didn't get a chance to venture north though.
Anyone have reports for the area slightly west of Leslie and Hwy 7? Specifically Pond Dr, as I'll be moving there soon. Also, what is the typical range of a tower? How well do they penetrate ground/buildings? Thanks!
